Where would they even put him? Would Kobe go back to 2-Guard for that?

I think that would make them worse. The Lakers kill it in the playoffs because they have 3 big men who are actually good at something other than being big. To take that away and add another wing scorer, I'm just not sure.

I definitely agree with your comment, I think they realize that they may take a step back defensively and may look to add another post role player who can come in and give them good defense.

But thats just me hoping, we will see how this goes.

Make that a wing scorer who has 0 concept of what defense is.

Sounds like the Melo to LA proposition went up in smoke.

He's so coming to NY. Let's just stop screwing around and get it done. The Knicks pretty much already told Denver they know they can get him in FA so we're not going to give up much for him.

So Denver has 2 options. Lose him and get nothing (Knicks get him in FA), or trade him and get a lil something.

There's always the chance of a Playoff Team renting him for a stretch run. Mere inconvenience, but you don't necessarily have the upper hand in leverage. That and Denver might very well hold on to him out of spite- no compensation be [BLEEP]ed.

I dont see how or why the Lakers would add Melo, unless a powerhouse team in the West is trying to snag him like the Spurs or Mavs. They do need a SF to replace Artest, but I dont see Melo as a good fit. Melo clearly wants to be the guy on his new team, and Kobe is already that. Melo to the Knicks makes the most sense out of any team

ya why would a team want to add a premiere player if all they have to give up is a terrible contract of a player who is never healthy

Fenikz I understand that approach but that size I think is undervalued to some.. I think playing Odom at the 4 would sometimes be a bad thing.

Not as bad as Rashard Lewis was at the 4 for ORL but I think Odom is so sexy off the bench. Yet if they get Melo, when Kobe leaves you still have a star.

Don't hurt me bro. I'm sensitive. I actually didn't show up to work the day after the "Decision" bc I was heartbroken that Lebron didn't come to the Knicks. I even told my boss that exact reason why I wasn't coming.

This is the most overlooked aspect especially if Melo agrees to sign an extension as an agreement of the trade. Lets be honest as Kobe gets older and less effective so do the Lakers. Bynum is good but I can't trust his health. I can easily see him as one of those guys a few years from now the Lakers wish they had traded because of his constant nagging injuries. Size can be found as well. Guys like Jason Collins, Tony Battie, etc, who play decent post defense against even the best big men are out there. I would do a Bynum for Melo centered trade in a minute.

I like the way you think.

It makes sense from a lot of different angles. First, the Lakers win/loss this season is exactly the same whether Bynum plays or doesn't. I think they're 17-7 without him and 17-7 with him.

The Lakers also made the Finals during Pau's first year without Bynum playing at all. Pau and Lamar caught a lot of flak for their Finals performance (and rightfully so), but that series was as much about Paul Pierce absolutely having his way with Walton/Radmonovich/Sasha as it was about domination in the paint.

Like you said, this might be one of those deals that falls into their laps, and if they don't take it, they could be kicking themselves in the ass a couple years from now. Also, like you said, this move is as much about the FUTURE as it is about a championship this season. This is the last hurrah for Jackson and the triangle, and the Lakers, despite the worries about their defense, have actually been hurting far more offensively than defensively. They rarely score 100 points anymore - and that's huge because they're just not the type of team that will ever have the mentality of a Boston or San Antonio (where they'll just beat you with ridiculous defense and fundamental basketball). They're not the type of team to grind it out and then make key shots at the end...they want to outscore and make key defensive stops at the end. There's a huge difference, and they're not suited for that style of play right now.

IMO, Bynum's biggest (and only) asset to the Lakers right now is that he slows down the hemorrhaging of elite, slashing point guards. Jerry Buss has a flair for the dramatic, so this is a very real possibility.

Really NBA? Kevin ******* Durant?

And why is the NBA whoring all over the Celtics in every ******* event?

I don't understand. KD is the best 'heat up' shooter in the event sans Ray Allen. If Durant gets it going early he'll hit anything, in fact I'd be willing to place some sort of bet on Durant if anyone wants to. The favorite has been known to slip up in this event.

Rockets just lost at home...to the Wolves...who were without Darko and Beasley.

Why do you do this to me Rockets? WHY????????????????

Oh and if everyone wants Aaron Brooks I would gladly trade you him for a bag of chips. He has ******* lost his mojo and playing like a shitless scrub.

5 year Lakers plan:

Trade for Melo
Sign Dwight Howard
Sign Derek Rose
Trade for Griffin

Dominate the world.
