Gotta love that deal for SAC. I just wish they had a real PG, no offense Jimmer.

Evans, Hickson, and Cousins forms an excellent young nucleus.

And Casspi getting a chance to start with the Cavs is an awesome proposition in my book. And that pick could end up being a good one. I still wouldnt have moved Hickson, or drafted a PF if I was them.

At least they got a wing with some potential now in Casspi.

PG Tyreke Evans/Jimmer Fredette
SG Marcus Thornton/Francisco Gacia
SF John Salmons/Tyler Honeycutt
PF JJ Hickson/ Jason Thompson
C DeMarcus Cousins/ Defensive F/A

Very solid young team IMO
Evans still shouldnt be playing PG, though. So they'll still probably struggle. But yeah, we'll probably see this lineup to start the year.

Hickson's a very solid young player, who was averaging like 17 and 11 after the All-Star break. They may have been looking at C, but I dont think they'd have any problem going with a Hickson/Cousins starting front court.

There is alot of young talent there, but it seems they still need a few trades before the pieces fit properly. Cousins can probably play C without too much of a struggle, but there is no true PG on the entire roster. Reke and Jimmer are almost the same player, both need to shoot alot.

What happens to Thornton when Reke moves to the 2? He's still young and improving himself. Seems like him and Salmons will be playing to get traded somewhere else IMO.

Demarcus Cousins is a true C, so it should be Hickson/Cousins without question. The back court is what's really questionable, when you don't have a true ball handler on the court. Jimmer as a sparkplug off the bench is perfect, and Garcia can play three positions, so he's extremely valuable to the team. The second squad could have Garcia at PG, Jimmer at off guard and a combination of Evans/Thornton/Salmons at the wing. I love the way the team is looking, but we're also not 100% sure that Thornton is coming back. I'm not sure how the Kings FO will react if a team is willing to throw their MLE at him.

If a team throws $4 mil a year at Thornton I match that in a heart beat for Thornton.

Couldn't find the most recent one, but the 09-10 MLE was $6 million, it's probably a little north of that right now. I'm not sure i'd match a 5yrs/$33 million deal that someone could give him.

nahh there's only three "true centers" in the league: Howard, Bynum and Gasol (Marc).

Cousins plays similarly to Zach Randolph. Makes me wonder why the Kings aren't a more profitable franchise... Reke, Cousins and I guess now Fedrette should be marketing gold...

So, he's not a Center because he can hit a jump shot? I don't get it, he has the size, quickness, strength and game to play in the low block most of the night. I'm not sure what twisted definition you may have of what a Center is supposed to be, but Demarcus Cousins is everything you want from that position.

Think of this lockout as not merely trimming some fat but RIPPING CHUNKS OF FLESH FROM THE BONE!

In other words, absolutely therapetic for the good of the league.

A lot of players aren't even fighting the lockout proactively cause so many guys want to play in Europe next year plus that whole China superstars tournament thing being set up. There are so many avenues for NBA players to make money during a lockout as opposed to the NFL. Some guys can make even more money a year overseas and without sponsorships.

What was the contract Kobe was offered to play overseas? Im pretty sure it was close to 50 mill a season? It was something ridiculous

I love Cousins. He has Derrick Coleman potential.

I wanna see him punch a teammate in the face during a timeout for not passing him the ball. Come on Cousins, I know you have it in you.

While I agree the NBA has a broken financial model, this CBA is going to be owners vs. owners as much as it will be owners vs. players. The NBA absolutely needs revenue sharing instead of trying to make up the difference simply by slashing the percentage of revenue the players get.

And Casspi getting a chance to start with the Cavs is an awesome proposition in my book. And that pick could end up being a good one. I still wouldnt have moved Hickson, or drafted a PF if I was them.

At least they got a wing with some potential now in Casspi.
The pick is lottery protected next year and then top 13 protected the following year. The protections continue to diminish, but I don't think the Cavs will can get better than #11 from the Kings. I will have to look again.

Honestly, I think if the Kings can add one of the top 3 free agent centers, you can pretty much guarantee they make the playoffs (and thus the Cavs get a back half pick) if there is any season/playoffs coming up.

Yeah, this is pretty much the opposite of the NFL lockout in my mind. I think the owners are in the right, I mean NBA players have it the best of any athletes other than baseball, imo. Contrast to NFL players who are worse off than the other 3 leagues. But in the NFL, the owners have the leverage, but the NBA players have all the leverage because there are a ton of Euro teams out there who would love to add some NBA guys to the roster. Should be interesting.
