from Ken Berger of CBS:
Sources say Golden State's offer for Chandler was not as robust as the 5-year, $60M that's been reported.
Also, Multiple league executives say the Knicks are now in the lead to land Tyson Chandler, jumping in front of the Warriors. If the deal goes through, the Knicks use amnesty on Chauncey Billups and move Ronny Turiaf to make room for Chandler, sources say. If Knicks amnesty Billups and move Turiaf, they could offer Chandler a four-year deal starting at about $14M. On one hand, Chandler would eat up '12 cap space, though Chris Paul is known to want to team up with him again.
Marc Spears of Yahoo: Warriors believe Tyson Chandler is going to Knicks and have moved on to looking at other free agents, a source tells Yahoo Sports
I was hoping it'd clear up the logjam at the forward spots. We've still got Austin Daye and Jonas Jerebko at SF. Both of them could probably play PF a little bit just to get on the court, but we've still got Villanueva and Maxiell there. Greg Monroe should be playing PF but he's our Center because Dumars does stupid **** like re-signing Tay.

Jerebko is likely going to be playing most of his minutes at PF after bulking up in his recovery. They did just re-sign him to a 4 year $16 mil. deal as well. I read Maxiell lost about 25 lbs., that should be interesting. Definitley some logjams at SG-SF-PF though.
If Chandler goes to the Knicks is there still a way for them to get Paul?
Nope. Chandler to the Knicks kills any cap space they would have for this year and next. .
The problem with a Houston/LAL/NOLA three-way is the pieces NOLA would get in return. Houston doesn't have much to offer to off-set the loss in Paul (Johnny Flynn, Terrance Williams, Kevin Martin, etc.)

Not unless you trade Amare for Paul and move Billups and Turiaf for Chandler.
Which I would hate. Their is no way to have Paul, Chandler, Amare, Melo.
As crazy as it sounds, I have this idea in my head that the Knicks could still trade Billups' expiring contract for a nice enough package that they could send to NOR in exchange for Paul. As long as they do it before the trade deadline, then Paul's Bird Rights would transfer and NY can extend him. It wouldn't be a brand new contract, but it would extend him a couple years.
But the hard part I guess is trading Billups for assets fast enough that their trade restriction will pass before the trade deadline arrives.

Ya there was a report by SI.com that mentioned that if we can have a wink wink deal with Paul where he opts out and resigns for the full max so he can get NY and the money.
The problem is getting an attractive enough offer for at least 16 owners to justify approving a deal to NY.
