He is a free agent. They don't have to trade for him. Knicks are going to be in contention for every rumored free agent just cause it draws traffic to websites and helps increase players value.

Every other day their is a rumor that player x is interested in joining the Knicks.

You mean like how Lebron "agreed" to approach Dan Gilbert before announcing the decision?

I don't think he can legally agree to S&T. He has to sign a deal with a team before he can work out a S&T.

Nash is still good but I don't know if every team is a "nash" away from a championship. (maybe okc) There's too many quick strong point guard these days and I don't know if Nash's offensive value offset a 30 points a night game from George Hill and Jose Calderon.

Word has is Nash and the Suns have agreed that if Nash is leaving Phoenix that the franchise would help facilitate a sign and trade deal to insure Steve gets the maximum dollars for his services and the Suns get something in return for him. Meaning all bets are off on where Nash lands, as cap space and exception money won’t be a huge factor.

If cap space isn't a huge factor there is no point in a S&T. Especially if he wants to go to a contending team. Cause Phoenix would not get much.

You do realize that if Nash is going to a contending team like it is generally been rumored. That you will not get much for him right? Meaning their is next to no point for Phoenix. You are not going to get much of a exception for him if he signs for less then he is worth and you are not going to gain more cap space in a deal.

So ya it sounds nice when he says I would be willing to do a S&T if I leave. Until he actually does it is just talk.

Also I am under no illusion that the Knicks have any real shot at getting Nash even with the ruling going in their favor.

I have no doubt that he would want to to work out a S&T if he can but I don't think he is going to pick w/e team he wants to go to based on if they can give Phoenix a good S&T deal.
