Gasol is expected to play tonight for the Lakers against the Nets...
it's not clear how many minutes he'll get...

You just won the Super Bowl, do the Nets really matter right now?

Eh. Just goes to show that you only looked at the stat sheet and didn't actually watch the game, because Pargo was on Deron for most of the night. CP got in early foul trouble because of some downright awful calls. While we're on that subject, I know Utah is a very physical team and all, but they (especially Boozer) got away with murder all night. There were a lot of calls that should have been offensive fouls that went the other way, it was one of the most poorly officiated games I've seen this year. Deron did have an excellent game, though. He definitely would be an All-Star any other year.
That said, the reason Utah won this game is partly because they kept CP3 on the bench for the majority of the second half and mostly because they were absolutely RIDICULOUS from 3 point land. They opened up the second half with an 18-6 run, and all 18 points came off 3 pointers. I've never seen anything like it.
The Hornets defense has been downright nonexistant during this 3 game skid, which makes me dread Wednesday's game against the Suns. This team is unrecognizable right now.

Shaq to the Suns for Marion and Banks being discussed.
http://rotoworld.com/content/playerp...ort=NBA&id=245

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that Phoenix has discussed sending forward Shawn Marion and point guard Marcus Banks to the Heat in return for O'Neal. Shaq's representatives said they have been made aware that discussions with Phoenix are serious and ongoing, but that a deal was not definite. Marion can opt out of his contract worth $17.1 million at the end of the season. And if he opts out, the Heat would then have substantial salary cap space this offseason, when potential free agents include Gilbert Arenas, Baron Davis, Elton Brand, Marion, Antawn Jamison, Ron Artest and Corey Maggette. Stay tuned.
|
Understand the deal from the Heat's point of view but I don't like it for the Suns. I think they would be better off just letting Marion walk in the off-season, instead of adding Shaq's contract.

I don't believe this story one bit, they have spent the past seasons trading away 1st round picks for free just for money for cap relief, then you would trade away a guy in his final year for a massive contract, that's not even considering the players. Marion is 100x better than Shaq right now. Shaq is useless. Old, slow, always injured, plus Phoenix would be the worst possible fit for him. I can't imagine Steve Nash and Barbosa pulling the ball out and waiting 10 seconds for Shaq to get down. This has got to be a joke.

That very well may be the dumbest rumor I have ever heard, what reason at all would the Suns make that trade, to add more salary and a guy who can't run the court while getting rid of a guy who is a DPOY candidate almost every year?

Gasol is playing relatively well for his first action in the triangle offense...4 points, 4 rebs, 1 assist...in 6 minutes...

That trade is so horrible it made me laugh. With Shaqs massive contract the Heat would have a hard time giving him away.

Tell Belkin that Shaq is on the block, he'd give the Heat Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, and Al Horford for Shaq.

what I want to know is, would this be a desperation move by the suns to compete with the Gasol trade or are they trying to get depth by addition by subtraction...

...what, sorry that isn't making since to me
losing 2 people and gaining 1 is adding depth?
anyway this trade isn't gonna happen

I was asking the question, thanks for noticing...
on another note...Pau Gasol is a beast, in his first game as a laker and in the triangle offense, he has 15 points, 8 rebs, and 2 assists while notching 25 minutes...
on the flip side, Kobe Bryant is just out there running around getting rebounds and setting assists...he has 6 points...
Edit: Pau has 20 points and 10 rebs...what a badass...

I guess it has more to do with Marion and Amare not getting along, not to mention him undoubtedly leaving after this season. I guess they're trying to improve the team chemistry and somewhat plan for the future. I'd figure you could get a lot more for Marion, but oh well.

Just so people know, Kobe's still taking a decent amount of shots, but he's just been missing. I love what I'm seeing from Gasol though. He doesn't give off as much of a mountain man persona now that he's with the Lakers, but I'm glad he's doing well.

yea, kobe's been off tonight, but what sticks out to me is that he has no free throw shots...which means he's not driving to the hoop which means Pau is being man beast down low...

I doubt that, my sister works at a club in Scottsdale and they are always there together with Diaw, the whole chemistry thing is a product of the media

Pau went off tonight 24 points 12 rebounds 3 assists....
Lakers beat the Nets by 15...they are playing inspired basketball on this road trip...they should be 4-0 on the 9 game east coast swing but that one point loss to Detroit was their only set back...
Lamar Odom really stepped up tonight, he played his type of game which is take his shots when they're there and get rebounds...the presence of Pau really allowed the Lakers to play their type of basketball...
