Gasol is one of the best bigs in the NBA, and he came up soft. Odom while inconsistent still is a threat. Fisher is a very solid PG to compliment Kobe. Sasha and Vlad had very good postseasons and came up short in the Finals.

Like Sniper said, Kobe got his All-Star and came up short. Granted they did miss Bynum in there but Pau is an All-Star caliber player that didn't show up in the Finals. I also felt that LA had a deep bench as well.

And as someone else mentioned, Jordan A) Would have never allowed that comeback to happen B) Never lost by 39 points in a Playoff or Finals Game C) Never lost a Finals series (Kobe has now lost 2)

Jordan never had a dominant big man. He had decent ones in Cartwright, Williams, and Longley, but never anything special like Kobe has had in all 5 Finals series'. Pippen was a damn good player, no doubt about it and I'm not about to say Jordan did it all by himself but he owned the Finals, that was his stage and he never came up short.

I don't think anyone in particular can be blamed more than anyone else for the Lakers. They all choked it away. I just think it came down to them not playing as great of defense nor being as tight of a team as Boston, sort of like... MEMPHIS VS. KANSAS!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

If the Lakers had Andrew Bynum, the would have won the series. The Lakers were beat on the Inside because they played soft. Had Andrew Bynum played, he would have given them a big and physical C to counter Kendrick Perkins and Kevin Garnett. Instead, the Lakers had Gasol, who played bad and the overgrown SF in Lamar Odom.

Andrew Bynum didn't do jack squat against the Celtics this year. He averaged 6 points and 6.5 rebounds in those two games. The problem goes much deeper then one guy.

He could have scored 6.5 points for all they care, they needed him for his defense, not his scoring. They lacked toughness and a big man to defend the paint, and guess what, that's what Bynum is.

For the record, the playoffs damn near went exactly how the seeding would have suggested.

Yeah but for the RECORD.. Boston should have swept the Hawks, gave up one to the Cavs and two to the Pistons.

alright, BA-BUMP! Does anyone watch summer league? Not have the time? I wanna watch it this year, the Bulls Summer league should look like this,

Derrick Rose
Joakim Noah
Tyrus Thomas
Thabo Sefolosha
or
Michael Beasley
Joakim Noah
Tyrus Thomas
Thabo Sefolosha

This obviously doesnt take into account any trades.

According to ESPN the Nuggets turned down an offer of Chauncey Billups and Tayshaun Prince for Carmelo Anthony.

Yeah, I saw that, I dont know why the Pistons think that Denver would give up Carmelo for so little though.

Not that I think that's a fair deal, but that Nuggets starting five would be nasty.

So little? Billups is a top 5 PG and Prince is a very good SF.

Ugh I hate Prince getting the last spot over Tyson Chandler and Joe Johnson. Team USA needs Chandler's interior defense, Prince is just another perimeter guard which team USA has plenty of. Team USA has only 3 big men, Howard, Bosh and Boozer. Team USA will go small ball and you will see Melo, LeBron, and Prince play the 4 a lot. Many teams like Greece, Spain, and others will eat our front line alive. LeBron may be stronger than any frontline they have but their craftiness around the basket will score on LeBron all day. Also leaving off Joe Johnson is a huge mistake. He proved last summer he can hit the open 3 all day, as well as play defense and run the point. I honestly think this team could easily not win gold. Their 12 being Kobe, LeBron, Carmelo, Dwayne Wade, Jason Kidd, Chris Paul, Tayshaun Prince, Boozer, Deron Williams, Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, and Michael Redd. This is another team USA which is athletic but has very few perimeter shooters, only Redd and Carmelo, and they are small inside. I really think they will have similar struggles they had in the last Olympics and Worlds. I would never had included Dwade on this roster especially coming off an injury, he brings this team nothing new. He can't shoot, isn't a great defender and they don't need a point with 3 already on board. He can penetrate but against foreign teams and their zone defenses his drive is useless. What we need are perimeter shooters to knock down shots, like Joe Johnson and Mike Miller last year, but obviously we are still going with the mentality of bringing the big names and not building a true team like it looked like we were doing last summer. Feel sorry for guys like Miller, Joe Johnson, Jamison, etc., who are part of Team USA's, "Program", which basically means you play in qualifiers but once it's olympic time, we send as many allstar guards as we can. If they truly wanted to win they'd leave home guys like Dwade and put in role guys like JJ, Mike Miller, and Chandler.

the problem with the nuggets is they will have to rebuild in about 2 years and all they have to do so around is carmelo and jr smith

Exactly I understand he is a versatile player and defender but for team USA his defense isn't that amazing to put him on especially since guys like Kobe and others are good enough defenders. He is too soft to board inside and is a terrible outside shooter which is what they need. I just have a bad feeling about this squad. If it were me, this would be my 12 man roster:

Chris Paul/Deron Williams
Kobe Bryant/Michael Redd/Joe Johnson
Carmelo Anthony/LeBron James/Mike Miller
Carlos Boozer/David West(Mid range shooting would be huge asset)
Dwight Howard/Tyson Chandler

Haha. I said the same thing elsewhere. Well, about Chandler and Johnson, anyway. We're biased because Joe Johnson's one of my most favorite players and you're a Hawks fan, but still, I think he definitely deserves a roster spot. If Coach K had his way, he'd be on the team, but clearly that was taken out of his hand.

I highly disagree with not giving a spot to Kidd though. I think people have to realize the differences in FIBA basketball opposed to the NBA. In fact, there's a very high probability that Williams will out-perform Paul. Rather than Wade though, who brings absolutely nothing to the team, I do believe that Al Jefferson should have gotten a shot. Bosh is awful in international basketball. He's like putting a European softy on the team without the experience of international basketball, which essentially makes him useless. They need another true low-post presence, and I think Jefferson could have brought that.

It's comical that going into the process they emphasized the fact that they're going to put the best team out there and not be subject to star power, and yet they went completely with a star-studded list.

I really wish LeBron didn't play for team USA during the summer. I prefer him resting and not getting injured.

Well if all the stars did that I think Team USA would be even better. I bunch of guys who would be honored to play for Team USA and work together. Give me a team with guys like Andre Iguodala, David West, Gerald Wallace, Andre Miller, Caron Butler, any day. Those guys would have rediculous defense rotations and would move the ball around and play as a team. I just feel sometimes that superstars like Kobe, LeBron, Dwade are so focused and used to going one on one and trying to get international fame that they throw away the team concept. With the help D of international teams, playing one one one like they do in the NBA just doesn't work.
