Who knew rebounding and making free throws were so hard for a team. Aye, the Bulls gave me a headache last night.

He's a better scorer and defender than Camby, and he's not that bad of a rebounder.

Nene is a better defender than Camby????? im sorry i guess i missed the part where he was a serious contender for DPOY and one of the most effective shot blockers and rebounders in the leauge.............

Awards don't mean everything. In fact many times awards lie and go to the wrong person.

Awards dont mean everything and all-star game and pro bowl appareances are vastly overated however Mvps and DPOY awards do mean something.
The stats however do not lie Camby led the leauge last year in blocks by nearly a full point! 3.61 with the next nearest player at 2.8, his blocks per 48 minutes was even more impressive at 4.96, 1.17 above the nearest player. His blocks to PF ratio was also extremly impressive at 1.32 Wallace was the only player to come close at .97 and most shot blockers hovering around the .7 mark, this stat is important because it reveals how effective camby was at blocking shots without fouling which is key because a pile of blocks with an equally high number of fouls is not all that valuable.
Camby was also tied with Dwight Howard for rebounds/48 minutes at 18.0, while not being the offensive rebounding force of some other players it is still extremly valuable especially on the defensive end.
To Dr. Gonzo while i do agree with your point in general it dosent really apply here, Camby was actually the best defensive player in the leauge last year and deserved the award he was not considered on reputation alone.
Nene on the other hand is an above average defender he has more lateral quickness than Camby but is nowhere near his class of defender or rebounder.

I have been told my Nuggets fans before that Camby is not nearly as good a defender as his stats show but I myself do not watch many Nuggets games so I cannot really say. I am sure there are a few Nuggets fans on here that know a lot more than I do.

I watch mainly Nuggets games because im an Iverson fan and probably watched about 35 games last year, his stats are somewhat inflat just because of how terrible the defensive unit was last year as a whole. His rebounds and blocks in terms of volume should of been lower however the ratio of blocks to fouls is really what sets him apart. Camby is 34 years old which is ancient for an NBA power forward/center so his lateral quickness cant match that of a younger player like a Nene however it is still quite impressive, hes also not that big and isnt a pure natural center so he can be pushed around a little bit by bigger centers (Yao, Shaq etc) however when it comes to shot blocking and rebouding hes definitely elite.

You know better than I do. I was just bringing up what I heard which without really anything to back it up was kind of pointless.

Derrick Rose looking very solid in the early going against the Cavs. He's 4-4 of the field and has gotten his teammates 2 or 3 good looks thus far (midway through the first quarter) though only one was converted.

He looks decent.
The refs aren't going to be on LBJ's **** this year......you can already tell.

Yeah, though the reffing certainly varies game to game big time...Rose not looking as good earlier as he did early two poor shots early in the shot clock (jumper and rushed layup). He'll eventually learn to let things come to him and focus on getting his teammates involved while picking his spots and taking over the game when necessary...I hope. Meanwhile sweet drive and finish by LeBron and the Cavs are starting to take over. Lucky bank by BG.
EDIT:
LeBron limping big time, rolled his ankle it seems. Hope there's no damage.

Really makes no sense for the Bulls to play 3 guards with LeBron playing the 3, they just can't get away with it defensively he absolutely manhandles whoever they're forced to put on him, as he pointed out to Bucher.

Oh damn dude. This is terrible news. Hope he comes back soon. I might have to start the Amare for MVP bandwagon for him.
I wonder if I stopped posting, if anyone would notice.
