Mike Williams is now a Titan
http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=090...o&confirm=true
Our WR's are weak, and then there's the USC connection. So no surprise here, and I think he's worth a try. Can't do a backflip over this news though. Ok, I can't do a backflip period lol.
Has anyone closely watched him block? The TE move would be a flop if he blocks like a sissy.

Might be a good signing, if (and it's a big IF) he's in shape.

he could possibly be a star at TE too bad everyone just keeps on giving him another chance at receiver

Lol, I literally yelled out, "Woah!" when I read the title. I don't think this is strictly Team Thread worthy, as BMW is a well known commodity. But, that decision is not up to me.
Anyway, the possibility of signing Williams has already been discussed in the Titans Discussion between me and No Love. Here were the arguments:

If they say most wr's take 3 years to develop working their butts off, with the work ethic this guy seems to have it may very well be never. NFL coaches know what type of work needs to go into being a good player, notice Kiffin states that he doesn't take things serious to stay in this league, bold statements.

Motivating Mike was tough
November 14, 2007
ALAMEDA – Lane Kiffin offered another take on Mike Williams’ failure with the Raiders in his conference call with Minnesota-are reporters.
Kiffin was always tough on Williams in an attempt to motivate him. But it didn’t happen with the Raiders.
“A number of things can happen to guys all of a sudden,” Kiffin said. “Especially when you get drafted that high, 10th overall, and a kid is used to having to no money and all of a sudden here is $13 million or whatever it is. So that can affect people and some people can lose their motivation sometimes. I wish Mike nothing but the best of luck. We gave him a great opportunity. I stuck with him as long as I could. He wasn’t able to take it as serious as he needed to to be able to stay in this league and it’s really a sad story.”

I don't think a conversion to TE would work. He'd lose speed, and though he has the necessary body control he's not a good enough blocker. Maybe even use him in the slot such as colleges do with their faster TE's. Call me an optomist if you like, but if Williams has a shot, he has it with the Titans and no one else. No other team has Norm Chow and a weak receiving core.

Norm was his OC, but Kiffin was his WR coach so I imagine both are pretty capable of working with him and knowing his strengths. Norm of course brings a bit more credibility.
Hopefully if you guys do sign him he pans out and starts working hard. I felt really bad for the guy after the Clarett case and I think he got screwed pretty bad (now it looks like he has screwed the lions). Plus I really want to see Vince with some good targets and BMW has all kinds of potential.

Though, realistically, I can't see us signing another WR this late unless there's an injury.

They really need a good wideout so he should have every opportunity to succeed.

he's a pretty physical receiver but has trouble holding onto the ball. The main reason the raiders cut him was because of his 4th down drop against... i forget who.

Haha Mike Williams as a TE. This is just another opportunity for Mike Williams to disappoint.

honestly i think he would be a sick TE but i think work ethic is his biggest problem and until he gets that resolved first he wont be any good anywhere

Let me say this. Mike Williams probably deserved to get cut far before he did, and it appears that the Raiders gave him as good an opportunity as one can have. He was dropping passes left and right.
Maybe Chow can get him to work, but I doubt it.

Sports fans have been saying that since he was drafted into the league. The fact that it hasn't happened yet should tell you something.
Mike Williams CANNOT block, and won't be willing to learn. If no one can get him to lose weight, what makes you think he will want to switch to Tight End?
Even if he were used as a receiving TE only, wouldn't teams just put a DB on him instead of a LB?
It won't work, and it never will. Mike Williams has no future in this league.

Wonder what Mel Kiper thinks about him now...during draft day if you asked him, it was a travesty that he lasted until where he did

He's more like 245 he looked real big and slow for the Raiders. He is just very lazy he won't be on the Titians next season.

I doubt they will move him to TE because you have working TE's. (Troupe, Hartstock, Scaife...)
