Kyle Prater the #3 ranked recruit from 2010. 1st WR, is transferring from USC.

USC is kind of changing their style of WR's though. Ambles fit the mold, but we seem to be going with more speedy/shifty guys like Woods and Lee. Prater fits into the old Mike Williams/Vidal/Jarrett mold. Idk if that has anything to do with it, its just too bad because I think Prater would have been a great red zone threat.

The four names for Prater I have heard are Illinois, Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Notre Dame. All four are close to home and Illinois was a finalist for Prater out of HS.

As was ND I believe, and it's about half the distance from Chicago as Champaign is.
However, Kiffin has supposedly blocked his transfer to any other Pac 12 school and ND, so if true, I would expect him to land at Illinois. He has 2 years left to play, I believe? Has he used his RS or can he waste that on his transfer year?
EDIT: From an Illini site and quote from a former Illini, but:
Quote:
|
His coach at Proviso West, former Illini Famous Hulbert, said Monday that Prater, who had one catch for 6 yards this season for the Trojans, would prefer to transfer to an in-state school.
|
Also says he will have 2 years left after sitting out.

“He needs to be around his support group, and that’s his family,” Sonya Prater said. “It will be either Wisconsin or Northwestern. I made sure he kept his academics up. He may have had other issues, but I made sure of that first and foremost. He will get his degree.”
|
Hopefully it's jNW. But it not being Illinois is awesome.

Actually, Illinois would be better for Iowa since we don't play you guys for another 20 years or whatever. Really, anywhere but Wisconsin.
