I think that a power back is better for them. I could see Parker being a better fit in a ZBS. He's a good back no doubt, i love FWP but the Steelers are built for the power running game...

Willie Parker is good, but overrated. He has a lot of yards but 1 TD or so? That doesn't cut it.
WTF? People were calling for him to retire last year after an 1100 yard 5 TD season where he averaged 5.0 yards per carry?

Fred's been a top ten back since he's been in the league. He has one of the highest career yards per carry in league history. He's rushed for over 10,000 yards in his career. It just took till this season for people to notice him.

I remember a time when this discussion would be if Shaun Alexander was better than LT or not... guess the Madden curse is really screwing him over...

Because we have Najeh Davenport as a Short Yardage Back?

Parker gets us to the 5 and Davenport gets the TD..

Not to mention Arians rather throw it into the end zone 3 times and kick the FG.

Now Shaun isn't anywhere close to anyones top 10.

I'm still holding out hope that his broken foot last year and hand this year are the reasons he's sucked lately....

i agree with jsagan77, FT was underrated his whole career and now hes overrated. I also agree willie is overrated, but seeing where he is on the lists, maybe everyone thinks so too.. which kinda defeats the purpose..

As for fred taylor, the only thing the guy has to say this year, is that he had a high yards per carry and not too many carries... what does that mean? to me, it insists that if he had more carries he would have the stats like other backs.. but that doesnt make sense to me because if he had more carries he'd be more banged up and slow down.. and maybe injured

Does bring up an interesting question, though: How much does the OL factor in? After all, Chester Taylor almost matched Peterson's output behind the same line. You could make a similar argument for Jacobs as well, given how Ward did (though Droughns would seem to put a dent in it for the Giants).

Down seasons is no reason to drop running backs down the ranking. AP is good but he's still not the best in the league.

A kickass O-line pretty much locks up a team having a good running game.

It's why RB is such a fungible position for some teams.

A talented back shows off at the second level. It's why I consider Curtis Martin overrated. He's a great man and a very consistent RB, but he ran behind a dominant O-line and was never a "big play back"...just kind of took what the O-line gave him and maybe a couple more.

Yeah I've found that to be quite comical myself. But it doesn't suprise me. 'Top RB' threads are usually based on performance from the current season and LJ did not have a good year, especially compared to his '06 and '05 seasons.

Down seasons is no reason to drop running backs down the ranking. AP is good but he's still not the best in the league.
no he's not, lt2 is.

but there's no way in hell backs such as Willie Parker are better then him.

I agree. Willie Parker is too inconsistent for me. Not in the way that he doesn't produce, but he'll go 1 yard, 1 yard, -2 yards, 27 yards. I prefer consistent backs.
