WHERE IS CRIS CARTER? He is one of the greatest receivers of ALL TIME... no doubt rob job by the HOF.

To say Carter got snubbed is the understatement of the year. He's only the 2nd best WR ever, geez.

What does it matter? BTW, he played several positions in his career. He played OLB, DE, and the Falcon position that was created to utilize his talents.
Next time Tippett has a 7 sack game AND a 6 sack game let me know.
Be happy with our 4th super bowl and get lost.

I am so excited that Andre Tippett made it. Such a great player. Only the third Patriot to make it.

Thomas will make it eventually. Tippett was a little further along in the process. They are both very similar players. I, like many, was very sad at his passing. :(

what.....the......****. I am literally in shock right now. Cris Carter is at the very least a top 5 receiver of all time. I dont know if I can even take the hall of fame seriously anymore that is an absolute joke.

Yeah, Carter not getting in is a sham, but he's a shoe in next year. I think that might have been why the voters didn't go for it this year. Him, Tags and Derrick Thomas carry over to next year and get joined by Bruce Smith, Shannon Sharpe and maybe Darren Woodson. I don't think Larry Centers or Antonio Freeman get in.
Boom, there are your six for next year.

Actually Carter didn't even make the final 10, which isn't a good sign for his immediate candidacy. Dent has made the final 10 three times now, you've got to think he's going to get in the next year or two ala Monk and Carson.

Who said he got in over Carter? People are acting like Monk stole his spot, give him some credit. Monk has long deserved to get in, he should have got in over Irvin, but I wasn't blaming Irvin for that.

Good point about Carter, and hopefully Dent does make it in next year. Bruce Smith is a lock for first ballot selection, and Rod Woodson should be first ballot as well imo. I'd add in Gradishar and Kuechenberg, making 5 modern-day inductees.

Gradisher's elgibility ran out this year I believe. If he's to get in it will be through the senior committee, which is a shame IMO.

Derrick Thomas Tribute
Pass rusher extraordinaire spent 11 glorious seasons in a Kansas City uniform … Served as the heart and soul of the Chiefs franchise during that span … Known simply as “D.T.” ... Was not only a bona fide star in terms of his contributions on the field, but also illuminated countless lives through his charitable efforts … Received the ‘93 NFL Man of the Year Award, the ‘95 Byron “Whizzer” White Award and was named former President George Bush’s “832nd Point of Light” ... On the field, was one of the most dominant defensive players of his day thanks to his patented sack-and-strip maneuver … Established Chiefs career records for sacks (126.5), safeties (3), fumble recoveries (18) and forced fumbles (45) ... His 126.5 sacks were the fourth-highest total ever by a linebacker at the time of his death … Produced a club-record 20.0 sacks in ‘90, included an NFL-record seven sacks in a single game … The only player in Chiefs history to see action in three different decades with his final contest coming on January 2, 2000 … Saw duty in 169 games (158) starts and owns a share of another franchise mark with 10 career playoff appearances … Won the Mack Lee Hill Award as a rookie in ‘89 … Produced nine consecutive Pro Bowl berths from ‘89-97, the most of any player in Chiefs history … Was the initial two-time winner (’91, 94) of the club’s MVP trophy which now bears his name … Born January 1, 1967 in Miami, Florida and died on February 8, 2000 in Miami, Florida following a serious auto accident on January 23, 2000 in Kansas City.

I just checked, looks like you're right. Very disappointing that the Denver guy couldn't make a more compelling case for him to the other voters.

Where did you hear that Carter did not make the 1st cut down to the Top 10? Espn are reporting Carter, Richard Dent, Bob Kuechenberg, Randall McDaniel and Derrick Thomas made the first cut.
Those 5 guys will have the strongest case for 2009. However we also have Bruce Smith and Rod Woodson's names thrown into the mix next year alongside Shannon Sharpe.
Smith and Woodson are locks so that only leaves 3 available spots for modern day candidates in 2009 as the 2 senior guys are voted on separately. That just shows how tough it is to make it.
Early prediction for 2009:
Bruce Smith and Rod Woodson: Welcome to Canton.
Carter, Kooch, Dent, McDaniel, D.Thomas and Sharpe will fight over 3 spots. I think Carter has to make it next year, esp as he appears to be the next WR 'on the list'. Dent or D.Thomas as the defensive player. Kooch or McDaniel as the O-lineman. Sharpe will have to wait.
Gradishar has indeed dropped off the list and will have to rely on being selected by the vets committee. RG retired in 1983 and you stay as a modern day candidate for 25 years. Keuchenberg faces a similar fate in 2009 as he retired in 1984.

Wow, what a sham this committee must be with not voting Carter in. It really is quite shameful to be honest when you consider not voting for arguably the second greatest wide receiver of all time to not make it to the hall on his first try. Anyways, he did make the top ten according to this article.

Your hilarious. You say you hate Chiefs fans and then you completely ignore Derrick Thomas. What a coincidence.
Also, kind of hard for Gradishar to make it after his eligibility has run out.
If DT has to wait his turn while lesser players like Dean and Tippett get in then Bruce Smith and Rod Woodson are going to have to wait their turns as well.

Crazy as it may seem, the two points can be and are unrelated to one another.

How long did first ballot Hall of Famer Darrell Green wait again?
And how the hell would you know if Dean and Tippett were lesser players.
