No, you are right that that will never happen, but taking away a team's entire draft picks would be a pretty bad consequence.

Great. Like the Pats needed more motivation. Ugh. Hopefully they start pressing when they try to "run up the score" against us, and it plays into our own hands.

*crosses fingers*

BTW, if this is true, this is a huge blow to the reputation of that dynasty. Im not going to overreact, im going to wait and see what is made of all this before I jump to conclusions.

I'm pretty sure Super Bowl XXVI had neither the Rams nor the Patriots, and was in fact the Redskins vs the Bills.

Love the logic - "I'm not saying they did it, but even if they did, it's the other team's fault for not preventing it." No responsibility falls on the person(s) actually committing the action; rather, it's the victim's fault for not taking all the precautions to prevent it. Classic.

Like I said when Spygate first broke, you are incredibly ignorant if you think the very first time the Patriots decided to cheat was week 1 against an inferior opponent. Based on what we know, (players comments about games in the past, coaches comments about funny business with headsets, and Spygate), it is far more likely that the Patriots have been cheating ever since Belichick got there than its is that they decided in week 1 against the Jets that it was necessary to cheat. So, as I said before, congrats to the Rams, Panthers, and Eagles on their Superbowl victories.

I cant wait to hear what Mercury Morriss has to say lmao, he's going to find this interesting...But on a serious note, it makes this whole thing look suspicious because Goodell destroyed the tapes all together, if their was evidence of cheating was he the only one to determine that or was it reviewed by a whole board of people?

Because it looks like there was more to those tapes then they led on to believe, so they destroyed them to have no evidence of them...Otherwise, what really was the point of destroying them? Lock them up on file if there is nothing to hide

Yeah, I'm sure the Rams, Panthers and Eagles are planning their SB victory parades right now.

I always thought that excecution wins football games, not schemes....in what way the players cheated? This is them who won the games....

Anyway, the NFL released a rather short statement:

We were aware of the rumor months ago and looked into it. There was no evidence of it on the tapes or in the notes produced by the Patriots, and the Patriots told us it was not true.

1. on the leaked tape, it was so obvious the pats were taping defensive signals; they filmed the coaches, then panned to the scoreboard with the down/distance; you sync that up with the game film, and you have what signals correspond with what plays; clearly cheating

2. what do you think the pats would say; yea we've been cheating this whole time, even during the super bowl

3. the rams said that day they were going over plays to be used in the red zone; so if you know what theyre gonna run when they get in the red zone, and can hold them to fgs, you have a clear advantage

I assume Goodell promised some leniency if they came forward about the allegations after the Jets incident. Of course, along with the leniency if they came forward, I'm sure he promised to completely unleash his wrath if they did not come forward with every instance of taping, and every tape they had.

Yes, because anonymous sources never come forward when it would hurt the person most. Watergate anyone?

Ok, even if the NFL, at this point, says there is nothing into it, you still think there is?

and I insist on " a this point".

I find it extremely difficult to believe that the Patriots are the only team that has taped stuff before . . . does the NFL really want to open up this can of worms? I bet every team has done stuff they shouldn't have . . .

How is it not relevant? The Patriots were caught cheating earlier this season. And they may have been caught this season. Which forms a pattern. And a pattern indicates purpose. Just because it's speculation doesn't mean it should be dismissed.

I'm not advocating that they did cheat, but I am advocating that it wouldn't be surprising. And for the person to say "who cares", is basically sending a message that if it is indeed true, then it's not a problem for their organization to cheat.

They didn't get into the Red Zone until the 4th Quarter... and they scored...
