I see your point on Spencer. The more I think about it though the more I'm seeing Peppers as a 3-4 defensive end with Clay lined up on his hip. Those two setting or coming off the edge will be a force and Peppers is long and large enough to pull it off. Standing up and in space is where he'll run into problems.

Maybe James Jones will be back, again, cheaper than imagined. Like 3 years ago when he was an UFA and didn't garner any real interest (other than the Vikings).

"James Jones just told me he wants this known: 'I would love the opportunity to play for the Carolina Panthers. I would love to play with Cam (Newton).'" - Josina Anderson

Jerricho Cotchery will meet with the Panthers on Monday, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Reading between the lines, it almost seems as if he's trying to sell himself, as opposed to having teams coming after him.
Maybe I overrate this guy. But I love James. I know he's not a 4.3 guy who blazes past people. But he's reliable, and makes plays. He's trusted.

If one team should be taking a chance on James Jones being a decent receiver outside of Green Bay, it's the Panthers. He's probably better than Marvin McNutt.

Packers are up in the voting mock if anyone cares to throw in an opinion. 3 votes a winner, 1 each for Pryor and Mosley thus far.

Good for Jones. Hope he pulled in a bucket of cash. Wish him well, he will be missed.

Edit: Not exactly a bucket, but a good contract.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the contract is worth $11.3 million.

Maybe the other way around, depending upon how Jolly's neck checks out.

Very interesting, but I approve of it. He really thrived as the change of pace/#2 back behind the bruising Lacy. Harris has to be the odd man out as of today, considering Starks brings the same things to the table that Harris does. Franklin should have the edge over Harris because of his receiving skills(probably the best among the GB backs). Either way, RB position is incredibly deep now

Starks was a good slashing change of pace from Lacey. Good one cut ability. Happy to have him back.

Franklin vs Harris (& perhaps another option for the 3rd - who knows?) should be one of the battles to watch in camp.

Jones gone is a bit of a bummer but it was the right time and I think we draft someone relatively early that should give us good depth. I would not be shocked if we went after someone like jordan matthews in the 2nd or 3rd.

Starks is a nice resigning.

Can't wait for the draft. Absolutely need to find a starting safety and tight end.

Glad we kept Starks, although I thought Pittsburgh was a great fit for him.

Very sad we lost James Jones. Very sad. He and Pickett are my 2 favorite guys on the title team..... now both might be gone. I still reserve some hope Pickett will be kept on for the vet minimum. He plays on, with us, just for family and a chance at another ring. Not at all for the money.

At least Jones went to the Raiders, and got decent money.
Old Reggie McKenzie raved about the character as a man that Jones is. He took Woodson and now Jones. He tried Flynn.
I wonder if he'll try Pickett. Probably salivating over Jordy and Cobb next year....we better extend them before next spring.

I'm not convinced that Kuhn isn't the odd man out. Lacy is already better at doing a lot of the things that Kuhn does, and there's no reason that they couldn't put him in the backfield with Franklin/Harris/Starks. Combining Lacy with those guys could be like Ellis and Ivery back in the 80's.

Plus, McCarthy seems to view TEs and FBs as being interchangeable.

Jones deal was only 10 mil 3.5 guaranteed.

We must really have decided to move on. That's extremely doable for us, even for a #3 WR. They must really believe Boykin is a better #3 (really, a better #2 with Cobb being in the slot) and have faith in the WRs somehow staying healthy.

It definitely could backfire on us.

I hear you..... Jones and Pickett are my favorite Packers.
Jones is like 5 years younger than Peppers...... he's still young.

This means to me that they have to either resign Jermichael, which I don't see happening, or I can see them taking Ebron..... Rodgers has lost a lot of his weapons. In a one-year span. And with injuries, it's not hard to imagine having to rely on #4 & #5 WR's..... Boykin's now gonna be #3, and nobody after him makes me comfortable. Plus his TE is no weapon anymore.

Just because we have Lacy, doesn't mean you gotta let Jones and Finley go free, financially-speaking.

Last year lost Driver & Jennings.
Now losing Jones & Jermichael?

I'm a big fan of Ebron so I would be very happy to see us draft him. I realize we need help defensively but Ebron has more upside than Mosley or Haha. He could be a bigger Vernon Davis and an all-pro type player. I don't see that sort of upside from Mosley or Haha.

Besides, I want Borland for our ILB needs and I'd be pretty happy with one of the second tier safeties. I do like the 2nd tier TEs as well but, again, no one has the upside of Ebron except maybe Troy Niklas who has sneaky speed, great hands, A+++ size and is OT like when he latches on in blocking.

^ THAT ALONE ^ would make me happy enough no matter who else Teddy takes.

I'm just hearing that Borland will most likely go between #30 overall and #50 overall, so I do not think he's there for our 2nd round pick.

I love Niklas too as you know. He too will probably be gone by our 2nd Rd pick.

If we can trade down a bit in Rd 1 to go up and come away with Borland and Niklas, all we need is a safety to really solidify the whole defense. Before injuries hit at least.

Devin Hester, anyone?

Like the article said not unless the price comes way way down. He wants $4m/yr to return kicks and punts (lets not kid ourselves with the fact he is listed as a WR on the roster). I don't think so.

James Jones didn't even get $4M/yr. No way will Hester get that much to return kicks and punts.
Especially these days when 95% of the kickoffs are deep into the end zone.

I'd give him $1.2M/year with a $1M bonus for each return for a TD.
