I wouldn't read too much into it. Smith isn't going to come in here and get any sort of extended playing time unless there are a bunch of injuries. If anything I like the move because it brings in a veteran LB that is a decent back up and is a good team guy. With all the young LB talent on this team it may be a benifit to get a veteran leader type that can set an example for these guys. Think of him as a coach in pads type and if he still has some game left in him it's a bonus.

Meh, I doubt he's going to get that much significant playing time here, but at least it means we've got some experience. That's going to be important considering Wilhelm and Cooper are still relatively new in terms of starting, and Waters and Siler will certianly need some veteran grooming...
