Asante Samuel
Announced on 610 WIP that he is a done deal. Nothing in the national media yet, but it appears to be done. Crazy situation. Discuss!

Probably could have been done in the other thread, but this is a big enough story to be seperate. As I said before, the only FA I was actually looking forward to, so any other free agents will just be a bonus for me, as long as it isn't anything incredibly stupid. I think this is a great acquisition, that now makes one of the weak points of our team a strong point, though I better be careful about what I say, because I will not fully beleive it until I see it on ESPN or something like that. I am actually happy with the price as well, there are players that are not nearly as good as him that are getting almost as much money.

I am so excited for this, I think that he is a great player. I am praying that a "LeCharles Bentley" doesn't happen

LeCharles never visited the Eagles. He ended up with his career in jeopardy. Luckily, he got a lot of guaranteed money, so he's going to be okay in his life in terms of money.

Whooohooo! 5 years, 47M, I would say we came away with a bit of a bargain. It will be interesting to see how the domino's fall after he's officially with the team (i.e. Lito trade rumors, among others).
OFFICIAL!

I think Scott will have to redo his mock. I don't think DRC is coming to you now.
DRC@22?? ;)

Actually that isnt a for sure fact. There is a chance now that Lito Sheppard may be traded.Still then CB isnt as big of a need but if our top OL/DE/S targets are gone and we traded Lito for a primetime WR,we could still draft a CB to start learning Nickel behind Joselio Hanson.Plus ive heard DRC could play Safety and we could still value his return ability. But I do agree he isnt on the top of our board anymore more than likely.I could see our prime targets right now being Kenny Phillips or an OL like Chris Williams. (If our 1st isnt traded in a deal for a prime WR that is)

With the eagles likely to trade Lito Sheppard or Sheldon Brown, what do you think is the likely value (draft pick) that they would get for one of them?

Both are worthe about the same, even though there is not a doubt that Lito is a more talented CB. He just can't stay healthy, so I would say either is worth a late second to late third rounder, maybe more, depending upon who is interested. If a deal would get done, I won't expect it to happen for at leat a week or two, most likely more. This is because the Eagles will most likely wait until the FA class is dried up and the teams that really need a CB will be will to give back more in return for either. I would be fine with any of the possible CB scenarios, whether they all stay, Lito goes, or Sheldon goes, as long as we don't get screwed in the deal. I wonder what Andy meant when he said the Eagles new starting Left Cornerback... Does it mean Lito is gone, or moved to the other side, I guess that is one of the many things we will have to find out later down the road.
