Yah I don't see why they would want him either. I'd rather have Fargas running the ball.

If Fargas can stay healthy is a good RB. He's a stud and has proven it when given the chance. I dont think he can be a full time starter but can do well in a 2 back system.

i hate the off-season. it makes me sick watching teams pick up good players while we sit and wonder why were so bad. ive come to a conclusion about the nfl free agentcy period. its just like picking teams for dodgeball in grade school. 31 teams will pick out the top players out of the crop, while the fat ******** kid that no one wanted go's and plays with the only team left to take him......the raiders.

we havent made any big pushes for players. The only people in my eyes who were worthy of getting pushed for are/were Adalius Thomas, Dan Graham, Justin Griffith. And its better to build through the draft than free agency.

FA is to accesorize a team not build it, look at the Redskins. They only have 1 1st day pick and their team wasnt very good cuz they built through FA.

I don't really mind that we didn't make any big splashes in free agency because most FA's get grossly overpaid. It would have been nice to pick up one of the guards or a TE, but there is still possibility that some trades will take place.

We made a huge push for Garica, but we are going to draft Jamarcus...and he doesn't want to be a mentor.

dude there was never a chance we were going to get a player like dielman. even leonard davis is asking for a ton of money. there is no way al will pay 40 mil for an offensive lineman. maybe a guy like floyd womack.

I know he is old and injury prone but Ahman Green most likely will visit the Raiders.

we should push for him, he'd be a definite upgrade and help this offense out.

yea jeff garcia sucks.

POSTED 3:45 p.m. EST, March 3, 2007

GARCIA ASKED RAIDERS NOT TO DRAFT QUARTERBACK

We threw it out there last night as a possible explanation for the impasse between the Raiders and free-agent quarterback Jeff Garcia. And we've now learned that, for a change, our closed-eyed wing-and-a-pray guess was on the mark.

We're told that quarterback Jeff Garcia didn't sign with the Raiders for one reason and one reason only -- the team would not give him an assurance that a quarterback would not be selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 draft.

It's really not an unreasonable request. Who would ever want to be the lame duck starting quarterback? If the Raiders were to struggle to start the season, the denizens of the Black Hole soon would have been chanting for the other guy.

It's also our understanding that the money in Oakland was equal to the money that Garcia is getting from the Bucs. We're told that Garcia will make $5 million in 2007, and that the total value over two years could be as much as $14.5 million, based on Garcia being the starter and the team making the playoffs.

For now, though, it's an open competition between Simms and Garcia, especially since the base value of their deals is identical. Indeed, we're told that Garcia has not been promised the starting job.

Of course, if he ends up being starter, his situation won't be much different in Tampa than it would have been in Oakland. The backup quarterback (as Garcia learned in Philly) is often the most popular guy in town.

You're right about that - him liking being a Raider. It was hard for me to turn my back on LaMont because everytime you saw an interview with him he was talking about the Raider mystique and how he wanted to be a part of that. He really wanted to be the Oakland franchise back, but it became clear that he just isnt that talented.

Of course its not a lock but its definately an indication that they are seriously considering it. If they weren't considering drafting Russell or Quinn, they would have just told Garcia they weren't.

John Clayton:

Quote:
The Raiders are going to keep Barry Sims, who is moving from guard to left tackle, and wide receiver Ronald Curry, who restructured his contract Saturday. But they might lose halfback LaMont Jordan. For the moment, Jordan doesn't want to renegotiate a $4.75 million signing bonus that is due Wednesday, March 7. Figuring they could lose Jordan, the Raiders have asked Travis Henry to visit after his stop in Denver.
