Wow, I'm mildly stunned at the concession made by Bill Parcells. A 5 year deal?

Michigan offensive lineman Jake Long and the Miami Dolphins have agreed to terms on a six-year deal — voided after five years — with $30 million guaranteed and a total value of $57M over five years, FOXSports.com has learned.

Honestly, I am somewhat surprised by this deal from the Dolphins perspective.

Joe Thomas signed a 5-year deal with the Browns, coincidence or not.

well KC could be screwed if Dorsey goes 2.then Ryan will probably go 3 and that leaves us with Albert I guess where as if Ryan is available at least we have options

I think it's clear right now that Long, Dorsey, and Ryan are the top 3 picks in that order. Question becomes does Al Davis take Darren McFadden or get over his ego and take Long or Gholston #4? And even more puzzling will KC take Ellis, a DE, or reach for Albert?

Hmm, decent move. I thought they'd do better getting one of the pass rushing DE/LBs, but he will be solid for them, so.

Dude, KC is not taking Albert. Herm has a history of going BPA, and Albert will not be the best player on the board at 5.

Apparently its not that clear, it all depends on the Rams pick, Long or Dorsey

5 years AND 30 million.
Wow. Just wow. I am speechless. They had better hope Long pans out. For mine, Jake should not have been the pick, but that must show that the Dolphins had Jake Long rated REALLY highly.

What the heck does Al Davis' ego have to do with prospect Darren McFadden? Davis isn't the only person in the league who thinks building with speed and size is the way to go, and it's not like the Raiders offense couldn't use a playmaker or is scoring enough touchdowns.

Why wouldn't KC go Clady at 5? If you're going to reach on a lineman, why not one who is a proven legit LT?

big jake better thank joe thomas and send him a nice gift, for clearing the way for this by having a great season..... if not for that, big jake might have the robert gallery label.
i thought every scout has said that jake is not as good as joe thomas, who went #3 last year.
does that make this draft much weaker at the top? obviously so. apparently.
everyone that passes on chris long will regret it by the way.......

btw, Peter King, tells us again how Parcells is going to sign the first overall pick to a below-market deal (around the 4th overall pick) please.
Dumbass.

If the Dolphins use the whole ten minutes, I will stab someone.

$57.5 million contract, including $30 million guaranteed
about 3 and a half mill less then JaMarcus and 2 mill less in Guarantee money.

To me this locks in Chris Long at #2...Glenn Dorsey at #3...and then Vernon Gholston at #4. #5 is the pivot point at which this draft will blow up. Any one of three or four players could go at that spot, depending on who makes the pick. Also once you get to #7-ish, teams are liable to take guys who weren't even projected that high because they're all so damn similar in quality.
|
there have actually been talks of ATL tradeing with Baltimore, which would be a good move because then they get more picks and they are still ahead of anyone else projected to pick a DT like Cinci and they could pick up Ellis with the #8 pick then they would have another draft pick in the second round where they may be able to get Brian Brohm at #34 (they already had this pick) at #37 they are projected to possibly take Duane Brown OT vrom Virginia and they get #38 from Baltimore where they could take a better corner than they were projected to at pick #48. Then with the #48 pick open there are a number of options with draft depth at a number of positions although i think witht the Alge Crumpler leavign they will pick up Martellus Bennet out of Texas A&M.

Russell is a QB, though.

I really think Schefter is right and St.Louis takes Glenn Dorsey who is the best defensive prospect in this draft at #2. Regarding KC, I know that they are REALLY high on Sedrick Ellis, and if they go BPA my money is on him at #5, but Chris Long or Big Vern are possibiilites not to be ruled out yet since they might trade Allen and they might have one or both rated higher than Sedrick, I'm not sure at the moment.
