If he were positioned to be a 4-3 end I'd then say there's a 'bust' factor to consider however I only see him thriving in this 3-4 defense especially with the talent he's got surrounding him on the linebacking core.

I think it was a VERY good pick for the Jets.

He was clearly the best player available.

been beaten to death already a million times. As far as i can tell, one draft under one management has little influence on the draft of the same team under different management.

Just throwing it out there

This is dumb. The Jets have said that Keller was their 2nd pick if he was there. They got nervous because GB was looking for a TE (they drafted a WR in rd 2 and a TE in rd 3) and because the Giants' situation with Shockey. Keller wasn't projected for the 3rd round. The guy is a physical freak who will most likely line up as a slot WR/TE. if you dont know what your talking about dont hate on the pick.

gholston has done nothing to hint that he could be a bust.

He had a good combine and he's ripped. And obviously, Mike Mamula was the only DE who has ever had a good combine AND looked ripped. So, logically, Vernon Gholston is the next Mike Mamula.

I think the Jets had the best first round of any team outside of Kansas City. They got an excellent rushbacker prospect at the top, then they traded back up into round 1 to grab by far the best TE in this draft, IMO. Gholston and Pace could wind up being terrors off the edge for them, and Keller is going to open their offense up so much (and with his strength, I'd be shocked if he doesn't turn into a complete TE).

So you're saying you think he'll be Shawne Merriman? That's bad because...?

I think Ryan will be the big bust in the top 6 if Gholston is coached correctly he shoul be ok not a fan of Keller though

I'm not saying he's on roids, I hope he's not. Definitely seems like a good guy, but so does Merriman. But how could he be this jacked? He's also not the most fluid athlete out there. And the insane running times at the combine too? If he's not roided up, he is definitely the most physically imposing plater ever without using roids. I'm really surprised there hasn't been more speculation about it, but he has shot up in popularity in a relatively short time.

Vernon Davis is rather upset at the moment.

Gholston should take up something like yoga to improve his flexibility. He seems stiff when he drops into coverage and his hips have zero fluidity. Perhaps something like yoga could help.

Boy I ought to smack you upside the head. In my life time I never seen the Jets in the SB. I only care about what I seen, I don't care that they won a SB in the 60s. I had to watch a lot of close games that always don't go our way. Like seriously in 2004 for one we were a kick away from the AFC championship, but our stupid Kicker missed 2 easy kicks, our franchise QB it appeared ends up tearing his rotator cuff 2 times to destroy his career, "Chad Pennington" He was great until he hurt his shoulder, he has not been the same since, he turns the ball over more and throws a lot of INTs. Inconsistent now.
The Jets are cursed, I am very hopeful though that Mangini is the man that can bring us to the promise land. He has been great so far here, even though he had a bad year last season, it was due to lack of talent IMO. His game plans always seem to be right on, but the players couldn't execute and we had 0 breaks last season. The one thing I am dying to see with the Jets is a true Franchise QB, we never get them.
