The wiki article explains it all: Foster played as a DE at Rutgers until his 2005 injury. Since then he was a DT, became an All-American at the position.

The second link doesn't work, but I know what site you're talking about: they tend to either change the college position of a prospect to fit the pros or they put an alternate position he might play. In this case, it was the former.

...in all likelihood, Foster will play UT next to AJ manning the NT against the Jags in game 1. Once EJ is back from the suspension, it will be Ed Johnson at UT.

It was quite a task for Foster to play NT last year at times despite being overpowered, and gave it all, man our D-line depth has changed so much, it is good to see.:)

Is it just me or does Ed Johnson look like the best Colts DT hands down?

Big Cat put on like 20 lbs. to be Fatty Cat but he's just as quick (which now makes me wonder that he doesn't just look like a Thundercat, maybe he is one!). He's just as quick as before, he's giving guards and centers and runningbacks trouble.

And, we don't know how all of the defense feels, but Freeney at least loves him. Glad to have Big Cat back and hopefully he has a fine professional career.

Default Can he rush the passer as much?

I see EJ being more effective against the run than the pass with that weight, look at the few rushing yards the Eagles had with EJ & AJ in the middle. But he does get enough push and put him next to AJ, we have the Johnson & Johnson combo that will make the pocket less comfy enabling Freeney & Mathis to say hello to the QB. Sacking the QB from the DT position is always difficult and I don't expect EJ to do any of it, but pushing the pocket often will be a big step from last year.

Yeah, I think Ed Johnson penetrates the pocket better than any other DT on the roster. Fili Moala in time, but not now.

Default New roster prediction

Quarterback (3) - Peyton Manning, Jim Sorgi, Curtis Painter

Runningback (4) - Joseph Addai, Donald Brown, Mike Hart, Lance Ball

Wide Receiver (4) - Reggie Wayne, Anthony Gonzalez, Austin Collie, Pierre Garcon

Tight End (3) - Dallas Clark, Gijon Robinson, Jacob Tamme

Offensive line (9) - Charlie Johnson, Ryan Lilja, Jeff Saturday, Mike Pollak, Ryan Diem, Daniel Federkeil, Jamey Richard, Tony Ugoh, Kyle DeVan

Defensive line (10) - Dwight Freeney, Ed Johnson, Antonio Johnson, Robert Mathis, Raheem Brock, Marcus Howard, Curtis Johnson, Fili Moala, Terrance Taylor, Eric Foster

Linebacker (6) - Clint Session, Gary Brackett, Philip Wheeler, Tyjuan Hagler, Mike Tauiliili, Ramon Humber

Cornerback (6) - Kelvin Hayden, Marlin Jackson, Tim Jennings, Jerraud Powers, Dante Hughes, TJ Rushing

Safety (5) - Bob Sanders, Antoine Bethea, Melvin Bulllitt, Matt Giordano, Jamie Silva

Special Teams (3) - Adam Vinatieri, Pat McAfee, Justin Snow

Practice Squad (8) - Samuel Giguere, Taj Smith, Brett McDermott, Tom Santi, Jaimie Thomas, Adrian Grady, Jacob Lacey, Travis Key?

Why ...

Ball on the roster? Hart is injured, so I think they keep Ball (or Chad Simpson) for the early start of the season. Then they can cut Ball and put him on the practice squad this season if they need him again. Simpson is not PS eligible.

Santi on the PS? He's eligible so use it I say. Lets him heal up, develop, and get stronger. And a call-up away if Gijon gets injured.

Hagler on the roster? Experienced and versatile for all three LB spots, plus he's always been a good special teams player.

Hughes on the roster? I just couldn't cut the chord, Daymeion/Dante is too near to my heart, sniff. But he does have experience, which is something that might be needed early on depending on Hayden/Jackson. Hopefully Dante has a great week 4 preseason game! Lacey has looked good though, maybe the Colts don't think they can stash him on the practice squad.

Colts put 3 players on waived-injured list:

DE Curtis Johnson
DE Rudolph Hardie
CB Michael Coe

and waived TE Colin Cloherty.

I hope CuJo passes waivers.

And if they'd released Josh Thomas, he wouldn't have gotten one phone call. I don't know why they'd cut Johnson but keep Thomas.

Justice, Graham, and Hughes were cut today.

Another 3rd round draft pick gone wrong for BP in Hughes. A corner at that too.

Adrian Grady was cut.

Here is the link:

I think they must like John Gill for the PS over Adrian Grady.

I think we'll see Grady on the PS, if he clears waivers.

Hughes being cut isn't surprising. Just disappointing. He was great in college and looked like a great fit, the draft really is a crapshoot.

Marcus Howard has apparently been cut. I'm very surprised at that one.

Apparently, yes way.

That's two Defensive Lineman that the Colts have cut who I felt were gonna make the 53. This should confirm Keyunta Dawson as an Indianapolis Colt and potentially opens up door for Josh Thomas.

Dominic Rhodes has been cut by the Bills as well.

The Giants waived DE Maurice Evans, UDFA from Penn State.

I really hope the Colts claim him on waivers.

Confirmation on Howard.

Horrible decision.

Have to wonder if they made a mistake cutting Howard. I'm really hoping this doesn't open the door for Josh Thomas, how that man has held a job on an NFL team for so long is mind boggling.

Now, I've always thought that having both Marcus Howard and Curtis Johnson on the roster is redundant.

With that being said, I thought there is a place for one of them.

And if both Dawson and Thomas make the roster, that would be even more redundant.
