If he avoids a holdout I think he will be the starter on opening day for your guys. I don't think that is necessarily the best option for his future success, but I have a feeling the Falcons want to put the Vick era as far behind and possible and start the Matt Ryan era.

I think it will depend on how the starting O-line looks. If they look solid, then may as well let Ryan start the learning process.
If he's clearly going to be running for his life, then we should leave Redman in until the O-line does look decent.
At least, that's the logic I would apply to the situation.

idk, the OL should be much improved. last year we finished with this as our OL:
LT - Quinn Ojinnaka
LG - Justin Blalock
C - Todd McClure (he's some sort of ironman)
RG - Kynan Forney
RT - Tyson Clabo
backups that rotated in:
OG - D'Anthony Batiste
OL - Harvey Dahl
now. we will be getting back Todd Wiener from IR and also adding in a solid LT in Sam Baker. this year it looks to be this:
LT - Sam Baker
LG - Justin Blalock
C - Todd McClure
RG - Kynan Forney
RT - Todd Wiener
backups that will rotate in:
OL - Tyson Clabo
OL - Quinn Ojinnaka
OL - Doug Datish
OL - Alex Stepanovich
OG - D'Anthony Batiste.
we not only have a solid OL now, we also have some solid depth. does it need more talent in next years draft? oh yes, most definately.

I do not think that Weiner is automatically going to get his starting position back. I think Clabo should start at RT.

That's fine, then we have a great backup for the LT and RT spots.

He is in contract talks already. What amazing news is that.

That's good news.
He seems like a good kid, and comes from a fairly affluent background, so is unlikely to have the temperament of trying to grab every single penny available.
I would be amazed if Ryan allows his agent to prevent him from getting into camp on time.

More great news:
After the first practice at mini camp, Ryan asked for DVDs of the workout and of the offense so he could get up to speed. During the evening practice, he was getting veterans properly aligned or set in motion when the call dictated as much.
Even more impressive was Ryan's interaction with his teammates. He immediately acted as if he belonged, without being overbearing. His humble assertiveness was appreciated by teammates, who, by the end of minicamp were calling him by the nickname he earned at Boston College, "Matty Ice."

Not many people wanted Matt Ryan. I did, most did not. Intangibles mean nothing people said, but now they look like they matter. Not to mention he is a fine QB.

What's your point? He upheld it in college and is trying to in the NFL.

That the article was incorrect? That the name went further back...Why do you always have to act like a dickhead?

You are completely dumb, but that's another topic all together. You're not right in any way shape or form yet, because Ryan hasn't done anything for us yet. I'm pulling for him now that he's in the flock, but I'm still very skeptical.
The fact that you tried to point out something that didn't need to be pointed out since my statement was obvious, that's what made it a dickhead thing to say.

Yeah, your'e still angry. Mature as always.
Quite a few times you said, get over it, were not drafting Ryan. Your'e obviously still mad though, so I reckon I won't argue.

Also, I'm going to try the ignore feature, because the board is more smooth without argueing.

I never questioned his intangibles or said that they don't mean anything. It's just not something I would base a top 3 pick on. My other concerns were the INTs and lack of a great arm. As the draft approached I started growing on his ability to make every throw needed. I still have my concerns though.

Obviously, it depends on how well the two other quarterbacks perform in the offseason in the training camps and such and in the preseason. However, it looks as if Redman and Harrington/Shockley are not turning too many heads in the training camps and Matt Ryan is. Although I would rather Ryan sit out a year in order to get a better grasp of the system and build a more fortified line up front to guard him, I think Ryan will start game one.

The only intagibles that have been indicative of anything in this process is being the object of the media's affection.
With that hefty contract he at least has to start by week 8 IMO.
Then again it is Chris Redman's job to lose. Who knows, if Roddy White, Laurent Robinson, Douglass, Norwood, and Turner and a hopefully improved Oline can be ample weapons around him, perhaps he can keep the rook on the bench even longer than that.
As a Falcons fan all I can hope for is the worst to first curse to continue right?
It also would be better for Falcons Front Office to keep Ryan on the sidelines, because it could buy them another year or two before he is potentially exposed. Seeing that a QB is given 2-3 years anyway, it wouldn't be until 2011 before Ryan had to start being considered a bust.
Who would remember Mike Mayock hype by then?
Wow now I see why these guys keep their jobs.

You are so a Falcons fan!
No, digesting the playbook quickly, taking command day one, signing a contract quickly, those are intangibles. You are just a hater.
