Wow. That's a lot of money.
Can it really be 70 mill and 35 guaranteed?

Wow...I'm really glad it's overwith, but OUCH at the size of that contract. We're going to have to cut every other position on the field except QB now, with the contract of Vick still lingering...wow.

OMG thats insane, Im glad it's over with and he wont be like Brady Quinn. But with that money he'll have to start right away. I cant believe we have two QBs on the team that we pay at least 12 mill a year.

By the way, it's no coincidence that the deal was done immediately after the opt out. The Cowboys also signed their two big deals, for Newman and Barber, straight after the opt out. It allows the teams to take advantage of greater flexibility in post-opt-out cap rules.
It's a huge amount of money, but it is in a slightly different context to contracts that have come before...

yeah, but with this contract being before that does it even matter? I dunno, anyway, the question now, is with Ryan signed so early and likely starting from week 1 now, did the Falcons draft the Offensive AND Defensive Rookies of the year?
Matt Ryan and Curtis Lofton? Lets hope so

It's usually someone unexpected that wins it. QB and LBer are great positions if you want a rookie of the year.

Yeah I'm thinking Lofton has a good shot at it based on position and where he was drafted, it's not expected out of him, but he's definitely got major talent.

I think that the top 4 candidates for each award are:
O: D-Mac, Ryan, Mendenhall, Felix Jones
D: Long, Rivers, Mayo, Lofton

I have to say D-Mac on offense, but defense idk DEs like Chris Long dont usually play good their rookie year, look at mario williams and jamaal anderson. Some did like Freeny but you never know. Still he has a great shot, but im gonna give it to Lofton. He's a tacking machine and if the DL plays well he will have a great shot to win.

WTF. He's not going to see the field enough to even be in the running. And D-Mac I don't see it happening, Justin Fargas came on too strong, he's not going to get enough touches either. Ryan is in the best position to win it, because he'll likely start from week 1, but he's still gotta put something up.
Long I don't think has much of a chance either, he's a Kerney esque player, meaning, he's a worker, but early on he's going to get squashed, cause he can't out work these guys yet.
