Default Hardest Division in the NFL

People argue which divisions are the hardest to win when they start making predictions for the season. So lets see which division NFLDC thinks is the the best.

AFC South imo. They have 4 competitive teams, none are "rebuilding" and 3 made the play offs last year.

2 of them were being seriously talked about as contending superbowl champions before the play offs.

I think the NFC East is in a similar position, but it still doesn't beat the AFC South imo.

in order:

AFC South
NFC East
AFC North
AFC West
NFC North
AFC East
NFC West
NFC South

AFC South, hands down.
The NFC East is a close second.

Maybe the thread should change to the 'Third Best Division'

The AFC South has two good teams and two average teams. Neither the Titans or the Texans will sniff the playoffs this year.

The NFC East has potential playoff teams up and down, a 13-3 team last year and the Superbowl Champions. The Eagles are better than the Texans and the Titans, and the Redskins were a playoff team as well.

This shouldn't even be a tough argument.

Though I agree with you, but the Titans were right there last year, haha, and they made the playoffs.

I think the NFC East is the best when compare tit for tat. Maybe it's because I generally underrate Jacksonville and Tennessee EVERY year, but hey, I'll take Phili and NYG over them any day.

If the Eagles fire with a healthy McNabb, they realy could win the division, and when you are in the same division as the raining champs and the NFC favourite (Cowboys) AND another playoff team from last year, that is no small feat. It is a great division, and has been for a while, but iguess all good things come to an end.

I voted AFC south by a hair over the NFC east based on me realy rating the Texans this year, but i could have just as easy gone with the NFC east in hindsight

The NFC East is the toughest IMO. All four temas have the potential to make it to the playoffs. The AFC South is easily second as both Indy and Jacksonville are viable Superbowl contenders. Tenesse is a playoff threat, but I would bet any one of the NFC East before I would bet on the Titans. Houston is progressing, but isn't there yet. The NFC East has the Superbowl Champion, the best record in the conference, a playoff team last year in the Skins, and another playoff calibur team for the Eagles.

Umm no, "hands down" means its not even an argument for 1st, which is hardly the case here.

The top 2 teams in each division are close and you could call a wash...What it comes down to is who do you prefer, Houston and Tennessee, or Philly and Washington...What makes the NFC east the toughest is that the "bottom 2" teams could still end up finishing 1/2 respectively, and it wouldn't surprise anyone...In the AFC south, Titans and Texans are finishing no better then 3rd and 4th, how is it the best division when you almost can determine the winner each year? Colts and Jags for how many years now, maybe we get a shake up and get Jags Colts but the NFC East changes from top to bottom and nobody has a clue who wins the division because its wide open with tough teams.

AFC South might have Peyton, but top to bottom that division is not a competitive as NFC east.

AFC South just because I don't feel that the Redskins will be as good this year and the Eagles will have to prove they can stay healthy.

From last year...

Indy > New York
Jacksonville = Dallas
Tennessee > Washington
Houston < Philadelphia

So I give the slight edge to the AFC South.

LOL.

Funny how you put them in that order, cause if you change them around a bit, Philly is better than Tennessee and Washington better than Houston. Got a chuckle out of me. But there's no way that Jacksonville is better than the Cowboys. Jacksonville still has no serious receiving threats, and the only slight weakness in the Cowboys' defense is the strong safety spot in pass coverage, so i don't see how the Jaguars would score. The offenses aren't even a question.

AFC South. That division had a .656 winning percentage. The Texans went 7-3 outside the division, but ended with 8-8? Not to mention it is the AFC.

They score like how they did in the past...they just added some wide outs to their offense as well...

Ummmm, my team is in the NFC West and I still don't know how they got three votes. The Seahawks are the clear favorites and they aren't even that good. The Cardinals are possibly the worst franchise in the NFL historically speaking. The 49ers are one of the least talented teams in the NFL. The Rams have had one of the worst front offices in the NFL for some time now. Doesn't exactly sound like the toughest division to me.

Yeah, almost any other time people have a laundry list of reasons why other teams in their division suck, but not now. Personally I'd rather have my team in a weak division simply because it is much easier to win.

I like the AFC South, but I'm still sticking with the NFC East for the time being. I have at least as many questions about the Texans and Titans as I have about the Redskins, if not more, and I think that the Cowboys/Eagles/Giants trio trumps the Colts/Jaguars any day.
