Bingo. Unless we plan on picking top 10, maybe even top 5, we won't have a shot at them.

Major Wright, Morgan Burnett, Reshad Jones. I like all those guys better than top 3 in this class. It's a stupid argument though. I would still like a safety in free agency rather than taking anyone in this class. I like Delmas and Chung but I dont want to waiste that high on a pick on a safety.

I wanted to draft Jake Long or Glenn Dorsey last year so we could draft Stafford this year. Glad we didn't though.

I am still pretty high on Stafford.

If he is a good starter then it is not a waste.

Todd McShay has BJ Raji going 4th in his mock draft

And Stafford is so overrated IMO and I like the Bulldogs. Considering the talent around him on offense, he doesnt put up that good of numbers. And i know the SEC defenses are good, but Stafford isnt the most accurate. Hell, this draft overall isnt to great at the top, so he deserves to be a top-5 pic, but I honestly think he is overrated.

I watched pretty much every game the bulldogs played this year and previous years. I have pretty much seen all Matt Staford starts since his freshman year and I like the dawgs but I do think Stafford is overrated as a pro. He is not a big impact QB like Matt Ryan. He has a strong arm though, and he is pretty mobile and looks down field a lot but he doesn't have it in him IMO. He isn't very consistent and misses his targets a lot. I hope he proves me wrong and becomes a great pro prospect and worthy of a #1 pick.

Hey guys just did a mock draft through five rounds and this is what i ended up with for the Falcons. Thoughts?

1: James Laurinaitis, OLB - The Falcons need to find a long term replacement for Brooking. Little Animal should be able to roam sideline to sideline and help out in coverage.

2: Ron Brace, DT - Brace is the kind of big space eater that should help replace Grady Jackson. This might be a little high for him but if the Falcons don't grab him here he will be taken before their pick comes up in the third.

3: Chip Vaughn, S - This is the replacement at SS for Lawyer Milloy. A big hitter and in the box type he also has underrated speed and smarts.

4: Augustus Parrish, OT/OG - Parrish will add depth to the line and might eventually be able to lock down a starting spot at OT or guard.

5A: Ryan Purvis, TE - Purvis has poor speed but he has excellent hands, a great frame and can block. He had a disappointing senior year for the Eagles but he would be pumped to be reunited with the QB from his breakout junior year in Matt Ryan.

5B: Phillip Hunt, DE - You can never have too many pass rushers and Hunt is a proven one at the college level. Should join the D-Line rotation early in his career.

Pretty solid draft. Fills pretty much every need. There will be a decent center available in 6/7. That's the only thing.

Scott Wright: Who is the best opposing player you faced during your college career?

Aaron Curry: Matt Ryan was the best player I have ever faced. I felt like he was in a league of his own. It was like playing against an NFL quarterback.

haha i like that.

I love hearing what people have to say about Matt Ryan. Or just things about Matt Ryan in general. If he was an NFL QB in college, what kind of QB is he going to be in the NFL? I am thinking HOF...

And Aaron Curry is a straight boss. He will be great.

Anybody think we should draft a WR??? Like, a late round pick... we have White and Jenkins that are 1-2 for sure, but as much as I like Douglas, I think we can use another WR. Finneran has been pretty bad lately and Laurent Robinson is just injured. Id love to take one late. After watching Jordan Norwood of Penn State in the College Skills competition, his hands are so damn good, if he is available late, I think we can take a chance. Then we will have TWO J. Norwoods...

If Brian Robiske falls some I would love to take him. Maybe his dad can really push him hard and fullfil his potential. I would love a WR that can return punts though, so we will most likely get one.

yeah and there is a WR Ramses Barden of Cal Poly. Dude is 6'6" and during the Skills comp, showed some mad athleticism for his size, and some sick catches. He is not gonna be a returner, but personally I dont think we need one. Norwood and Douglas had some nice returns, so id love to give em another year.

Well, now that the NFL season is over except the Pro Bowl, I would really love for us to persue Karlos Dansby ASAP. Man would help us more than just about any other FA and if he doesnt resign with Zona, I want him. Peppers is a more unrealistic option, so im just hoping for Dansby

Don't you guys have that in Harry Douglas already? He looked pretty good to be so early in his career...Robiske seems like one of those guys that won't tear up the Combines so he won't be drafted really high but he's just going to make a great pro.

Not a fan of any of those options, really.

But I would go with Pettigrew and Marcus Freeman.

eh.. i was bored so just posted it. it really depends on who we sign in FA. with our three big defensive needs, we have to make a move in FA. as much as i recognize the urgent need for a DT, i really don't like our options in the draft.

Stafford put up better numbers in his third season than Peyton Manning did. Matt Ryan didn't even become the starter at Boston College until his 3rd year. Stafford is a superb QB prospect. UGA fans who thought he was going to carry the team to 4 national championships need to get over the dissapointment of 2008 and look at him for what he is. He's going #1 overall for good reason.

I'd take Matt Ryan out of college over Matt Stafford every day of the week.

Matt Ryan just looks natural back there, something Stafford never has done in my eyes. Then there are the intangibles and clutch ability.

Matt Ryan had 5 years of college to learn to play QB. Matthew Stafford was starting in the SEC at the same point in his career that Ryan was redshirting. It's safe to pick the proven NFL QB over the guy who hasn't been drafted yet, but the fact is Ryan wasn't on NFL radars until his 4th season.

And nobody outside of messageboards questions Stafford's intangibles. Having great physcial talent doesn't stop a guy from having intangibles.

I did not discredit Stafford's intangibles. I boasted about Matt Ryan's, which are next to impossible to beat.

Scott's 2 round mock has us picking Pettigrew and Brace. I love that. Right now Pettigrew looks to be the guy that has the best chance to fall to us.
