Default Which college conferences produce the most NFL starters:

http://www.houmatoday.com/article/20...comi ng_from_

interesting article I thought.

I'm a little surprised the MAC wasn't listed when talking about the QBs anywhere. I could have sworn that for at least a few years there they had the most starters in the league....maybe I was just losing my mind though, idk

Clearly it's the SEC.

Also keep in mind the SEC/ACC/Big 12 has two more teams than the Pac 10 and the Big Ten has one more team. Theres also a little bit of a lag time between tough conferences and NFL players.

Nice article BB and a great find. You'd think the big ten would have a little more starters at LB with both Penn State and Ohio State claiming Linebacker U, though we all know who that is...(mmhmm PSU)

Not recently my friend. As sad as it is to admit, OSU has the edge for sure lately.

Michigan also has put out LBs lately, not as many starters, but they have a lot of recent draft picks that could eventually start.

Yes indeed. The awesomest MLB/ILB in the league, David Harris, is a UM alum!

DISCLAIMER: I don't actually consider Harris the best ILB in the league, but he's rapidly rising in the ranks.

This to me is very difficult to say becuse there are so many confeences that produce a lot of quality players. If i had to jumpout and pick just one I would lean more towards the SEC but they are not to far in front of the Big 12, Pac 10, ACC and Big ten(it's to hard pick a second place out those four).

So Ted Miller from ESPN points out that this article is clearly wrong and infactual.

Not sure where our friend in Louisiana got seven. Perhaps he included Rex Grossman, a dubious notion that might have Chicagoans leaping from the Sears Tower. Of course, the same might be said of Kyle Boller in Baltimore, though the building, likely, would be different.

It's also fair to say things could shake out in unprojected ways -- such as Clemens not beating out Chad Pennington, or Croyle yielding to Damon Huard, a Washington product. Or, perhaps, Jake Delhomme won't bounce back from injury and Matt Moore (UCLA and Oregon State) will again lead the Panthers.

Michigan actually had more starting LB's last year than OSU and PSU combined.

Michigan (4.5): Larry Foote, David Harris, Dhani Jones, Cato June, Victor Hobson (sort of)

OSU (3.5): AJ Hawk, Mike Vrabel, Matt Wilhelm, Na'il Diggs (sort of)

PSU: None

He was talking about last year, but yeah Michigan has put out a lot of LBs recently. PSU too, just that not as many have been starters and there is a new group that haven't had their chances to start yet.

I know he was, just pointing out that LaMarr "I will ape **** Brady Quinn's Heisman hopes" Woodley is a badass. 4 sacks in 80 regular season snaps last year, and I think he had 2 in the playoffs.

It's pretty difficult to compare conferences because of the number of schools in each conference. Obvious the ACC and the SEC have more schools to send players to the NFL than the Big 10 or Pac 10.

But as far as strength and number of top quality players. It has to be the SEC and everyone else. Pac-10 is going to have some good qbs though. Palmer, Leinart, Edwards, Rogers, Anderson are all guys I think will be great pros. Booty has a chance to be good in Minny as well. Boller has pretty much been a bust.

As a general guess, I think that the SEC probably accounts for the greatest percentage of players in the league among major conferences. That said, I think in terms of quality players (as the article tried to define as starters) it is a much more even spread between conferences.
