The Steelers defense won those Super Bowls. Bradshaw really wasn't very good at all.

Overrated? Definitely. Don't try to pass it off like he some scrub, though.

Will never put an active player as top 5 anything so here's my list:

1. Joe Montana
2. Johnny Unitas
3. Otto Graham
4. Sammy Baugh
5. John Elway

This is based on what they did during their careers, not head-to-head or anything...

Otto Graham was a winner!

He only lost 17 games in his professional career, played 6 seasons in the NFL and took the Browns to the NFL Title Game all 6 years.

Furthermore, in 11 years as a pro, his teams made the championships 11 times and won 8 titles.

All of these Brett Favre top five selections are a joke...

He was exciting, great for football, and fun to watch. But top 5? He isn't even better than Brady or Manning and he sure as hell isn't better than a lot of the men who have played before him.

Hell, most packer fans say Starr was better than Favre.

Behind you 100%!

I love Brett Favre, but to say he's one of the top 5 is a bit far fetched. Hell, I'd argue with somebody putting him in the top 10.

Yes, at the age of 38 he was only the 3rd best QB in the NFL. No sh*t! Elway was not top 3 at that age. Marino wasn't. Unitas and Montana sure as hell were not. Its simply amazing that at his age he was performing at that level. You're using him being the 3rd best QB in the NFL at the age of 38, at a time with 2 other 1st ballot of hall of famers playing, as reason not to be top 5 ever? That makes NO SENSE.

And I am a packer fan. I know other packers fans. I go to Green Bay. And by a mile most Packers fans say Favre is better than Starr, no question. There are some people who prefer Starr but the statement you made is not true at all.

If you compare the two to the eras they played in, Starr was definitely more dominant. How much stock you place in that is up to you.

Not to mention, Starr was way better in the playoffs.

First off, who determined he was the 3rd best QB last year or in recent years?

Tony Romo, Ben Roethlisbergr, Carson Palmer, and Drew Brees could all be argued as better than Favre recently.

Second, this isn't who is currently the best and what age they played at. It's top 5 QB's, which he is not.

Favre is good, Favre is exciting, he's great for football, and he took a lot of unnecessary risks and he lost a lot of games by making stupid decisions.

He is nowhere near as good of a QB as Elway, Montana, Marino, Unitas, Starr, etc....

Too many of you don't know any history of the game. You swear the guys you have watched for the past 5-10 years is what the league is made out of.

Favre didn't even dominate his era. He was one of the best in his era, but didn't dominate it like some others had in the past. Learn a thing or two before you post. You're like the people who pick Champ over Deion because Champ is the only one you've seen play.

Lets see hes one the NFL MVP award 3 times, thats more than any other player,he was named to the 1990's all decade team, hes first in career TDs,passing yards, completions, most starts by a QB,and most regular season wins by a quarterback his overall record being 160 and 93.Hes also first in career games with at least 3 TDs with 63.Hes been to the pro bowl 9 times and is a 6 time all pro selection.Hes 2nd in career playoff passing yards, completions,TDs,and attempts only behind Montana.Yet hes ahead of Elway,Unitas,Marino, and Starr. And above all else hes also a SB winner something Marino never did.

But to be fair hes first in most career INTs,tied for first for career playoff INTs thrown with Jim Kelly, and most career playoff loses with Dan Marino.

i really cant see any reason for Favre not to be mentioned with these guys.

Projected...

1. Tom Brady
2. John Elway
3. Peyton Manning
4. Joe Montana
5. Dan Marino

Montana is somewhat low just because, well, he played in one of the most QB friendly systems the NFL has seen under a coordinator/ head coach who made **** look like pancakes.

Also, keep in mind, this is projected to after Tom Brady and Peyton Manning retire.

Hating on Favre is so fashionable right now. Its pretty "in" to bash him. But criticizing people for putting him in the top 5? He played the same amount of time as these other legends. He dominated. He won a championship. He won three straight MVP's. He owns every record there is. Is he a consensus top QB? No, of course it's debatable. But to criticize people for mentioning him in the top 5? Thats just plain ignorant.

Thats just plain ignorant.
Winning only 1 superbowl in the nineties is not domination. Especially considering he had some of the most stacked teams in the league through out that time.

With the exception of the 1 year they won, Brett ALWAYS made the big mistake.

And again, 3 MVP's, big deal -- It's all about the post season right? I mean that seemed to be the case when everyone was talking about Peyton not being great. Why Romo isn't anything yet. Why some question Marino's place on the list.

Winning a superbowl is great, but with some of the rosters he was surrounded with he should of had at least 2 or 3.

I've been hating on him for awhile, It's not just because it "cool" now. I actually want him back, I don't like Rodgers. Plus Brett is fun to watch. Plus Brett cant win in Dallas :)

Thats one more season than marino and so many more games than the others.

hell and i never said its wrong, i only said the records are misleading.

kkthxbye
Yes a tad misleading. But the reason Brett played in a season worth of games more than Marino and a season and a half worht more than Elway is because Favre never got hurt and remained productive throughout his whole career. That fact shouldnt really hurt the accomplishment.

PS as hot as Kristen Bell is, hotter than Hayden? Tough call, but Ive gotta disagree with you there.

PPS Brittany Snow is damn hot as well.

So give him the all time Iron man Award. Don't mention him in the top 5 greatest ever.

You're an idiot.

Is Favre in the top 5 ever? Debatable.

I say yes. I think his durability, records, championship, MVP awards, and longevity help prove that.

Of course you could rank players like Montana, Elway, Unitas, Graham etc, etc, ahead of him. Everyone's list is different. And if you had him outside the top 5, than that would be understandable since so much is up to personal preference, time period, etc, etc. But to bash someone for putting him in the discussion is just plain stupid.

Why not criticize the joker who put Terry Bradshaw in their list? Now that I have a problem with!
