That's what I love about this time of the year, everybody is just perfect. The coaches cannot say enough about every player on their team, they are all just performing like they were all pros, then the exhibition season starts when they actually have to play against somebody for real and all the hype slowly disappears and when the season starts 22-26% of rookies actually start mostly for teams that were losers last year, the rest of the rookies ride the bench until an injury gets them into the game or they are actually ready to play around the 8th game of the season after practicing for half a season.
Right now the hype is absurd and has little to do with reality or how they will actually play during the season. Every foolish home town fan who believes the hype coming from their team's training camp needs a reality check.

Which is why I like to throw in a negative thing in there for good measure. As Stewie calls it: a compliment sandwich.

I don't know why you bothered posting this speil from what I've read in this thread nearly everyone has pointed out the bad news when they've seen it.

If you're not at least optimistic about some of the players from your team you're hardly a fan. Blame the media coverage if anything not people posting updates from what they've heard.

I like to hear what rival teams are doing what. Its also good from a fantasy standpoint. If you don't have any news about a team, why bother whinging about people that do.

This was from yesterday but according to some reporters who were at Bengals TC during the annual Oklahoma Drill, Stacy Andrews(6'7 345) drove draftee Jason Shirley(6'5" 340) a good ten yards down the field.

Also I have heard more than one reporter(Chick Ludwig in particular) laud undrafted RB James Johnson from Kansas State. He has been impressing everyone with his speed/vision. Some think he will make the roster with an already crowded backfield.

I will be very upset with you guys if DeDe Dorsey doesn't get his fair chance. All the guy ever does is perform when he gets the ball in his hands, yet just because he was undrafted from a small small small school he still gets stiffed year after year.

I'd be happy for a change about the WR position and two of three at linebacker isn't bad.

I think we gave him a fair chance last season when we reclaimed him after Indy released him. I think he'll be a mainstay on this team because he not only provides a spark in the Run game, he is a very very good ST player. He blocked a punt last season. Apparently we let him go because we has hurt n we didn't have a roster spot but we TOLD him when he got healthy we'd bring him back. If Chris Perry goes down and with Kenny Irons being shelved, he could be a 3DRB. He did a lot with the limited carries he received last year too.

Personally, I'd like to see them give him a shot in the return game but unfortunately that doesn't seem like its happening.

Woohoo. Good Matt Ryan news!!!!!

Quote:
Quarterback Matt Ryan ran with the first team offense for part of Wednesday's practice and led the group to a late touchdown.

Head Coach Mike Smith said the practice schedule allows for multiple quarterbacks to work with the first string during Russell Falcons Training Camp.

Wednesday was Ryan's day.

And he took advantage.

The third-overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft needed just three plays during the final team period before he found Roddy White deep down the left side for a touchdown. He also led the offense in a goal line setting and pushed the team out from its own 3 yard line.

In a two-minute drill, Ryan found White again for a touchdown. The play, which was the last of Wednesday's practice, was highlight worthy for White; he plucked the ball from the air after it bounced off Chris Houston's helmet.

"We want to make sure guys are getting in different situations and I think you guys saw how we did it today," Smith said. "Chris (Redman) started one period, the next period was Joey (Harrington) and then it was Matt."

Ryan showed command of the pocket and made several types of throws. He even scrambled up the middle of the field for a few yards during the two-minute drill. He also demonstrated a particularly strong connection with White.

"I'm starting to get a better feel with those guys," the rookie said of his receivers. "There's a number of guys I'm starting to get a good feel with. That's the beauty of camp..."

Smith said the team isn't close to making decisions about the quarterback competition.

"I don't know there's a set time in terms of what we're going to do as far as making a decision," the coach said. "I think the time frame can move and change based on how the players perform. We want to give everyone an opportunity to go out there and compete."

Johnathen Stewart was doing some kick return work today.

I am aiming for 5-11 and the 2nd best LT or Michael Crabtree off the board.

Prolly shoulda mentioned this earlier as he has been raved about ever since coming over from the Saints, but CB David Jones from Wingate University has been excellent. Coaches seem to think he will be our 3rd Corner maybe even as early as this year(Deltha O'Neal is slotted at that position now) based on his performance thus far. The Bengals jumped all over him when the Saints let him go and he could be a solid contributor this season. I would not mind him taking O'Neals spot in the slightest. In fact, I'd love him to do just that. Only time will tell but he has impressed beyond belief thus far.

Looking pretty darn good from all accounts. Granted, compared to last year that isn't saying much but he's even getting praise from Sean Payton which doesn't happen very often. I see him at least starting off being our 3rd WR depth-chart wise.

The exciting news in cowboys camp has been Spears getting time at NT...this allows our best DL Ratliff to move over to DE and Tank to start at NT....now this move isn't permanent according to coaches...but the past 2 days they've played strictly at their (new) positions. If this does turn into more of a full time thing..this is the best way for dallas to get it's top 3 DL on the field at once...and move Spears down the depth chart a slot.

My guess is this will be used more against teams where pressure is a huge issue...against a team like the Pats/Colts..but against a team like the vikings we'll probably use the base set from last year.

To any Browns Fans... How is RB Austin Scott doing? Will he make the roster? or is he a Practice squad guy. Will he just be let go?

From the reports I've read he is battling it out with Travis Thomas for a practice squad spot...and Thomas has the slight edge as of now.

Thanks, he is sort of a home town guy, and was wondering if there was any update on him.
