Default Interesting Stats on Carson

Pulled off CincyJungle.com
http://www.cincyjungle.com/2008/8/8/...s-breaking-dow

It's best to read the whole thing, but I'll sum it up a little bit.

442 of Carson's 575 passes went to TJ/Chad. 52 to Kenny Watson and no other player had more than 21 catches.

This is where Utecht, Perry and hopefully the young WR's come into play. Carson simply cannot pound the ball into TJ/Chad as much as last year, that's why we sucked on 3rd down and he was intercepted so often.

We have two great WR's in TJ/CJ but the offense cannot succeed if they're the only ones getting the ball. Perry and Utecht should dramatically increase 3rd down production in my eyes. In the article they mention that the big two may have to stay under 150 total catches for the offense to succeed.

I think its less to do with the number of passes TJ / CJ catch and more to do with the number of passes to be thrown at all.

575 is too much, and needs to be at 400-450 imo. We just need a run game we can rely on and then Carson won't be forced to hit the only two guys who can get open against stacked secondaries.

thats my theory anyways!

You also have to take into consideration the absence of Henry last season with those numbers. You expect your top 2 receivers to get most of the catches but when a real third option isn't viable, its hard to trust them. Having Utecht and a healthy Chatman should change that. Plus a decent running game will reduce the number of passes. A healthy Rudi is a great thing. As is a healthy Perry.

I think you guys have said it all and I agree. Healthy running game, pass catching TE, and Chad/TJ make a very scary offense to try to cover...
