Michael Johnson doesn't produce enough on the field. I do not want him.

45 tackles, 9 sacks. Not too shavy.
If you watch him, the guy provides pressure on every single play, and hits the QB all the time. There is no comparison between him and JA.

Here's a video on Michael Johnson from the Va Tech game...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9tRkjU4Oig
-On the second play (LE) you see how quick he gets of the line and you see his amazing strength pushing the tackle all the way back into the RB.
-On the third play (RE) you see his speed and how he uses it to get by the double team for the sack. He got double teamed a lot on passing plays.
Now, tell me you saw JA ever do that.

The 2nd play was impressive. Good first step.
The other play you talked about was all right. He went way wide and any QB in the NFL can step up at a time like that (unless he had his feet were tangled).
I have just heard some not so great things about him this year.

Im also not a fan of MJ as our 1st round pick at DE. I know Abe is our only pass rusher but we gotta fill major needs right now. JA98 is trash yes, but he does have starting experience at least to hold us for a year.
The only guy Id want at DE is Everette Brown. Pending on FA, we go DT, S, OLB, TE then from then on we do whatever but we must fill our holes.
We gotta remember we are actually a very good team now, considering everyone thought this would be a 3-5 year process. So why not fill our holes early and continue to make a run in the playoffs and eventually just draft luxury picks like so many good teams get to do instead of worrying about 5 different positions all the time.

im not a big Michael Johnson fan myself. Now if he somehow fell to us in the 2nd round then i wouldn't mind getting him but not with our 1st round pick. To me he seems like a situational pass rusher an not an every down DE.

Actually, i like that news. It makes me feel much better about the performance of our O-line in that game.
By the way, if - horror of horrors - someone does pinch Mularkey from us, I'd be VERY interested in hiring Jags as the OC. It makes a great amount of sense.

Jagz is not liked much by anybody. I don't want him near our team.

Everette Brown is a no. He has some pass rush moves but doesn't have the size for a 4-3. Think Kamerion Wimbley with more pass rush moves instead of a pure speed rush.

Did you really just brag on a player for beating Ed Wang? I laugh.

Actually, he beat our right tackle on that play. Blake DeChristopher (unless Nosal was in due to injury), who is a redshirt freshman. Not much to brag about there.
I wouldn't be too opposed to Michael Johnson, but only because he has the tools and Abraham would hypothetically be a mentor.

If you guys go to the Falcons website, there is an interview w/ TD and he talks pretty heavily on being very active in FA, so it should be interesteg the next couple days.

If he hits FA, I want him bad. He is an amazing LB.
If not, I think we get at least Leroy Hill. Underrated guy that is not going to get a ridiculous salary.
And thats interesting Dun. When can we pursue FAs?

I read the sports illustrated magazine today, and like on the last few pages i find something interesting. I read Peter King's NFL all- pro team or something like that.
It was no surprise that he had John Abraham on there at DE, or Matt Ryan as the top offensive rookie, or TD and Mike Smith getting best GM and coach respectively. Something that was interesting was to me was he had Harvey Dahl's name on there for the RG spot. It says "from NFL Europe to Team Leader". It was good to see someone is taking some recognition in our O-line and not just Ryan, Turner, Roddy.
I found a link of it... (list at the bottom)

I am playing at a new difficulty. I upped the sliders to make the games really hard. This ended up in me losing to the Lions in week 1 as the Falcons. Now its week 2 in Tampa Bay. I am also playing without roster updates.
The first half goes all right. I can't get any offense going. The Bucs are up 6-0 Bucs.
In the 3rd quarter, things go abnormally. After continuously being stuffed, Graham breaks 5 tackles en route to a 74 yard TD run. My offense continues to stall. 13-0 Bucs.
4th quarter begins, and my offense continues to be ineffective. After a failed drive, I get the ball back with 3:50 to go in the game. TB punts the ball, and I stop paying attention (I was watching a 3OT bball game) and Harry Douglas gets the ball in the endzone and takes it out with defenders right in front of him. I couldnt change anything so he gets tackled at the 3 yard line. Now, Ryan's epicness begins. I hit all sorts of receivers and march my way downfield. After taking a sack at the 2 minute warning, I hit Adam Jennings for the TD. 13-7 Bucs. Bucs get the ball and try to run out the clock, but I use the time outs and they fail to get a 1st down. After a terrible punt, I get the ball back at my 40 yard line. Another epic drive, considering I need a TD to win. Matt Ryan takes it in from 3 yards out by himself for the Falcons to take the lead, 14-13.
This game was so oddly similar to the one Matt Ryan had in Virginia Tech.

FA begins on Feb. 17th I believe. At least that is when we are allowed to start talking to players.

Dahl, IMO, was our worst offensive lineman. Our worst pass blocker, and he gets called for penalties often.

um, no. NFL FA, normally starts at the beginning of it's fiscal year on march 2nd. That's how it's been for almost 10 years now.
Also, I have a sheet that has been tracking our cap with the most official sources I could find. as of now we are 37.6M under the 2009 cap. if we cut Brooking, Wiener and have Vick as a post june 1st designate, we are guaranteed to have 46M in cap room. ;)
