I just watched the end of the Falcons-Eagles game again. Watching Matt Ryan lead the Falcons offense for 84 yards while going 7/11 for 81 yards and a TD is just terrific. He took a sack, converted a 4th down, audibled a play and threw a perfect pass to Brian Finneran for a TD that was dropped, and moved around in the pocket to throw a perfect pass in the back of the endzone for White.
I really wish he had the chance to get the ball back. We would have won that game.

That Eagles game just pissed me off. Mostly because the refs ****** that up for us, and we weren't able to get the ball back. Adam Jennings didn't help. Thank god he's gone.

agreed. Jennings deserved to be cut. He never played a down for us after that play ironically.

and ironically enough he went on to play with the lions and helped them achieve a 0-16 season.

^^ We need players like the Steelers have. We have some nice players, but every Steelers players knows their rolls and execute that role perfectly. As much as I hate the Steelers, I have become a fan of Ryan Clark every time i watch them play

I just want an agressive zone blitz like what they have. honestly, I think we can do more with a 4-3 than they can with a 3-4. especially if we got Larry English. they have 3 guys that suck in coverage on a DL in a 3-4. in a 4-3 with guys like Abraham and English or Suggs, you would have 2 out of the 4 DL able to cover and then the other 7 guys. 9 guys able to cover vs. 8. if we went Zone Blitz with man corners, I think our defense would have personnel fitted to scheme.

yeah i would love zone blitzes too but last year i don't think it would've worked too well because it would have left our secondary exposed too much to the pass.

I agree in the sense of Milloy, but I think Houston and Foxworth would have loved being on Islands and I think the front 7 would have been good at it.

The Falcons offseason plans just became more complicated:

This is a good thing, IMO. Get another OT this offseason that might be able to play opposite Sam Baker for a long time.

Yes, and Tyson Clabo is a RFA and the depth is so poor the Falcons brought Wayne Gandy out of retirement. I know OT isnn't a favorite position of fantasy fans who want nothing but glamour players, but the Falcons don't need to be playing games with OT. Especially now that they have a young franchise QB.

I know what you are saying, but Tyson's coming back. He's been very good, we aren't letting him go. The depth is poor but Baker/Clabo is a very nice combo and there really isn't a need to spend a high pick on a backup.

A high pick wouldn't need to be a backup. He could compete. The #3 OT is important anyway. Espcially if he can also play guard, like Clabo. Adding another OT would also provide depth at guard.

You're talking about who? Weiner?
11 starts is too much for a backup.

I went back and looked at the box score because I remember Ryan being pressured a lot during the Cardinals game. He was sacked 3 times that game.....all 3 sacks by DE's. The Falcon's OT's played horribly that game. I remember quite a few penalties on them too.

Yeah, they had a bad game. But so did the whole of the O-line. Crowd noise had an awful lot to do with that. Further, when the D-line has a jump on the snap count, there's not a lot the OTs can do.
We need OT depth, but we have far bigger issues this season than to look for a new starting OT. Efficient allocation of resources is the key: ponying up 7mill per year for Carey to play RT is not (even if, in theory, that would be great).

Roddy is so underrated. Someone saying all he does is run 9 routes and Lee Evans is on his level.
Unbelievable. Probably top five in receiving yards for the NFL the past two seasons combined, in one offense with Joey Harrington at QB and another where we only threw it like 420 times.

Wow, what? That's ridiculous. If just running one route (which Roddy clearly doesn't do) gets you into the top 5 receiving yards, then why isn't Lee Evans?
I think a lot of people, myself included until the end of last year, just have a bias from how terrible he looked his first two seasons.
