Michael Jenkins dropping the ball almost cost us. Thank you Eric Weems, what a great return.

We tried to give them the game and they just wouldn't take it. The far better team won tonight. Btw...how do they split a sack between 4 DLmen? lol

Yeah it took a late stand to prevent having to go back out on the field, but it wasn't like you had a chance to win, you were hoping to tie the game up.

Early on Hester gave you all the advantage with field position and 3 consecutive 3 and outs by our extremely predictable offensive playcalling and poor blocking by our OL against the run blitzes. You could only manage 14 points against one of the leagues "worst" defenses.

We managed to shoot ourselves in the foot numerous times, not to mention the refs not helping with that PI that wasn't that gave you the opportunity for the 2nd touchdown. You couldn't punch the ball in from the 2 yard line and actually lost the first fumble, we forced the 2nd for good measure. Your team needs a LOT of work. This was a BAD performance by the Falcons and we were still clearly the better team.

You sound like Iloxy.

They made plenty of mistakes as well, such as the two fumbles at the goal line.

Neither team played very sharp, and neither team looked dominant over the other.

this is ridiculous. We lost because our oline sucked ass and we had more yards in penalties from our oline than rushing. You didnt outplay us at all.
You won by one possession. It doesnt matter if we were there to tie it up or not, it came down to the last play and you were never up by more than a TD.

so did we. Your point?

And thats a reason why we lost, not the reason that you are clearly the better team or "by far" the better team. If at all, you are lucky that Forte had 2 fumbles on back to back carries after only 1 fumble all of last season. I dont see how this warrants that the falcons are so much better.

Great win against a good that came to play. There were a ridiculous amount of mistakes by both teams and hopefully they can get to fine tuning those problems by the end of the year during the playoff hunt.

Jay Cutler really didn't impress me as a QB. Yes, he has great pocket awareness and the ability to fit the ball into tight coverages, but his decision making skills are pretty sub-par. How many times did he chuck it down field, only to have it be incomplete? Compare that style with Ryan's; Matt doesn't have as big of an arm, so he can't make so many deep throws, but at least he begins with short-medium passes to set up the deep ball.

It seems as if our front 4 is beginning to come along; it has shown the ability to dominate lesser offensive lines, especially against the run. Forte's longest run, in 15 carries, was 5 yards. Coffee (who isn't that great of a RB), averaged 3.7 ypc and gained 25%+ of his yards on 1 play. The front 4 was also able to bring pressure against Cutler by itself (though we did blitz a **** ton. wtf was up with that?). Biermann is looking really good right now as well. Anderson's move to the inside seems to be a brilliant move as of now; he is able to hold his own against the run and does a good job using his speed against the pass.

btw, Thomas DeCoud is badass. He is developing into one of my favorite players on defense.

Falcon u need to chill out man. You sound like an idiot and I don't want the solid knowledgable posters here to get lumped into the same boat as you with those rediculous posts.

Good game Chicago. We were fortunate, I'll go in depth later but I'll take the W in this league.

Good game Falcons. Both teams are better than what they showed in this game, there were mistakes all over. The red-zone turnovers killed us and our O-line still sucks. Cutler's decision making still needs work. Atlanta's offensive versatility worked for them. Their front 7 also played well.

Biermann to starting LE and Anderson to DT seems like a brilliant maneuver. I really like how the D-Line has played since the bye week, but I wish we have Jerry still. If the D-Line plays like this against the Saints we have a shot in the division.

That was a really tough football game.

The Bears have a D-line that has been playing excellently under Marinelli, and our O-line did a really good job. Yes, they struggled against the run early, but that's expected to happen occasionally when a good D is loading up its front. Also, to have a third straight game without Ryan getting dirty is exceptional (although Matt takes a lot of the credit with his quick release).

Our D-line is looking good (although one must bear in mind that SanFran and Chicago do not have good O-lines). The move of Jamaal to the Tuck role has really paid off, and I expect him to become better and better as the year progresses. Most importantly, he is finally showing some fire, which has made a big difference.

We showed today that we can be solid against the run. Trey Lewis is gradually improving in his recovery from injury, Babs is a great penetrator, and Johnson has been a real surprise.

Most importantly, our four DL on 3rd are up there with almost any team in the league. The Vikings and Giants are clearly better, but we're up there with most of the other good teams. A line of Abraham, Babineaux, Anderson, and Biermann can get regular pressure on 3rd down, giving us a lot more flexibility in coverage, so we can mix up blitz and blanket zone.

This at least allows us to cover up our biggest remaining frailty: the CBs. Grimes is ok, but he's only ever going to be so-so. He can match up against quick receivers like Knox and Hester, but he's always going to be limited. Houston just hasn't made any progress in getting his head turned around, and I suspect that he never will - it's so frustrating.

These next two games are going to be huge...

I don't see how you guys think the Falcons didn't kill themselves in this game, seriously? I mean I know the Bears had their mistakes and screwed up to, but man, we did almost everything wrong in this game. The Bears did not at all look like a good team. They looked like a sub par team, I was expecting a game where the Bears would come out guns blazing and it would really take all we could muster to squeeze this one out. While the scoreboard was close, it really just never seemed in question after we finally got the field flipped into our favor after that first touchdown by the Bears.

Initially it felt like the 2nd half of the Patriots game to me, then all of a sudden the Falcons kinda half woke up and started playing ball offensively. Our defense looked really good out there, but again, it was the Bears. I'm sure they don't look that bad every week or they wouldn't have won any games so far this year. But the 2 games I've seen left me thoroughly unimpressed.

What was Ryan's deal last night, he just seemed off at key times, those 2 picks were really bad, plus Turner with ANOTHER fumble, seriously, who is this guy Adrian Peterson? The Falcons need to get those things tightened up or we won't beat good teams, we have the Saints coming up on Monday Night football, if we don't play a game like we did against SF we're going to lose, we need our team to step up and make plays. I don't want to look past the Dallas game, but the game against the Saints is going to be huge for us.

Also don't look now but the Panthers aren't out of this thing...YET. They've managed to snag a couple of wins, I know they're playing really bad right now, but the fact that they have 2 wins keeps them right behind us, we need to keep the pedal to the metal here in this rough stretch of schedule and not fall back. The NFC is looking like a very tough place to make the playoffs right now.

This HAS to be Oxy. Only Oxy would go to other teams pages and talk **** with terrible arguments.

And just like always writes a novel to try to make a point.

I'm not saying he's a world beater, but Thomas Johnson has been the kind of player so far that helps separate the good teams from the bad. Bad teams lose a starter and are noticeably weakened. Good teams plug another guy in and don't seem to miss a beat.

I'm starting get more comfortable with the defense as everyone knows thats going to be the key to the season. If the D can keep on holding teams to the teens in points. It's going to be a good year. Decoud (sp?) is looking like a keeper.

Brian Williams is out for the years, OUCH what a blow.

Come on Tye Hill, it's your time. I don't know how much more I can take of grimes and chevis jackson.

Speaking of Grimes, he had a much, much better game then Chris Houston last night, even tho he got juked bad by Cutler.

That's a shame. He's been doing a solid job for us. Who else loved BVG dialing up some blitzes as well?

I really like the blitzes, but I hope we don't try too much of that stuff against Drew Brees.

There's no way around it. I'd personally go for it. We can't let him have all day to throw against Houston, Grimes, Jackson, etc., but he will probably kill the blitz. I'd much rather take chances against him.
