watching film on both Anderson and JPP, they both look like they almost take a step back from the line as opposed to exploding forward. 2 of the slowest first steps I've seen out of any "first round" DE's. JPP won't make it to ATL though. I have a feeling Miami takes him at 12.

One of the more interesting parts of minis will be seeing how much Douglas and Jerry are taking part. Hopefully they're both at near 100%.

I'd be very surprised if Moore doesn't take the SS spot.

I think our opening day lineup will be this:

QB: Ryan
FB: Mughelli
RB: Turner
TE: Gonzo
WR: White
WR: Jenkins
WR: Douglas
LT: Baker
LG: Blalock
C: McClure
RG: Dahl
RT: Clabo

LE: Biermann
DT: Babineaux
DT: Jerry
RE: Abraham
SLB: Nicholas/Peterson (ok, I'll say Peterson)
MLB: Lofton
WLB: Spoon
CB: Robinson
CB: Owens
CB: Grimes
SS: Moore
FS: DeCoud

That's a lot of speed on D (Peterson would come off the field on 3rd down, of course).

No harm in bringing John Henderson into training camp, seeing if Smitty and his old Dline coach can get him back somewhere near his former self. If he can't outplay the youngsters, so be it.

If he is picked by a bad team, who can't coach him up right, and expect him to play right away then yeah. I am not a fan of the pick for us, but when it comes to picking DEs, we have the magic touch. Plus we can coach him along, and don't expect him to play or be the man from day 1. Osi, and Tuck mixed with Kiwi would be the guys, and just like in 07, we will have a 4 man rotation system. So this way JPP can come in and get his feet wet. Again, I hate the pick, but I understand the rationale we used, and why we picked him. Our draft went sideways once McClain and Spiller got picked.

I'm pulling for Nicolas to beat out Peterson, Moore to beat out Erikson. I think you underestimate the odds of Brian Williams being the starter, even if I would let Grimes and Owens battle it out.

Man I hope so. Even at this stage in his career he would be a nice addition to give us some heft up front.

I'm sure John Henderson would love to come to atlanta. It's close to Jacksonville and he will play under his old coach. Only problem he might have is getting playing time since we have Babs, jerry, thomas, walker and that new guy we drafted.

He would be great on running plays. We need someone big upfront. Trey Lewis just doesn't cut it. All indication right now are that we are pursuing him.

I don't see Williams being anything more than depth. We know what we are getting with him and we could be comfortable sliding him in incase Owens and Grimes getting time blows up in our face. Think the plan is a battle for Grimes/Owens at the two spot, loser gets nickel role. Williams/Chevis fighting to not get cut. (Franks might end up being the 5, but he's not getting cut.)

And yeah, I'd really like to bring in Henderson. I know he's not nearly what he once was, but didn't it seem like every 3rd/4th and 1,2,3 yards was an automatic convert? Let's bring in the big fella, give him some snaps and hope for the best. I'm not going to cry if we don't get him because I believe in Jerry. (Hate that he's coming off a major knee injury though, that normally takes more than a year to get back to full explosion). And we all know Babs is a machine. But let's be safe instead of going down the same road as last season.

I don't really like Spoon getting #56. Keith Brooking was a hell of a player and deserves to get his number retired.

I liked Brooking (up until 2007 or so anyway), but retired numbers are only for the GoaT. Even Dez Bryant is getting Michael Irvin's 88.

Falcons didn't have a pick to trade up to. If they wanted him then they would take him because they had a pick just before you guys.

Weatherspoon should get 56 because he's Keith Brooking II. A versatile LB with great intangibles, picked in the middle of the first round. To take it even further, the Falcons took Weatherspoon over a star WR prospect, who fell because of character questions. If Bryant plays well, many fans will complain that the Falcons should have taken Dez Bryant instead of Weatherspoon, just like they complained about taking Brooking over Moss.

Speaking of Dallas receivers, if we have any concern over Douglas' knee, we should trade for either Patrick Crayton or Sam Hurd. Both have asked for a trade (they are behind Austin, Bryant and Williams) and would improve our position at slot receiver if we need it.

I think we're good with Douglas and Weems at the slot. We need to shore up the #2 spot. Jenkins ******* needs to stop dropping balls.

Yeah, I'd defintiely be on board. I don't see it happening though.

Was I the only person who warmed up to Brent Grimes last year? He is athletic, plays tough and gets picks. It was Chris Houston who was the terrible one. I think being #2 behind Robinson will do wonders for him.

I'd be cool with him as a nickel back. I don't really want him starting though unless the end of last year was a true revelation for him. Let's not forget how overmatched Grimes was for most of the year.

Yeah, but he was facing players like Marques Colston and Randy Moss. By getting Dunta Robinson he can cover the #2 receiver for the most part.

I'd take Brent Grimes over Chris Owens any day.

Grimes looked so much better at the end of last year. Three possible explanations:

1. Playing terrible QBs
2. Natural development, he's still learning, and the light came on
3. More comfortable on the right-hand side

Could be a combination of all three.

I'm expecting decent things from him, and hoping to be pleasantly surprised by better.

I'm also optimistic that Owens will be good, he showed some excellent promise last year, and I love his physicality. That might be the one thing that wins him that #2 job over Grimes.
