Yep... I think he had the same thing as Roddy White. They both lacked confidence before. Roddy White just got a boost in confidence last year (I have a feeling this had a strong connection with the mentoring of Joe Horn) because he was being targeted a lot by Redman, and Petrino purposely built our offense around him.

With Michael Jenkins though, his confidence must be booming right now because of how well he's played in the past few games that he's played in. In Chicago, I noticed that Ryan was targeting Jenkins more often, and then he caught that catch in the end which obviously set up the game-winning field goal. I started noticing a more confident Jenkins then. Now, I have a feeling his confidence is at an all-time high because last week, he scored two TDs - one over DeAngelo Hall, who was drafted ahead of him by the Falcons a couple years ago.

Good balance of Turner and Ryan. If need be, I think Ryan can take that Saints defense. Their CBs are playing so far off.
I have no idea what our secondary is doing. Our corners are giving huge cushions to those ATL receivers, and it would be nice if our safeties would provide a little help. Kaesviharn has made 2 absolutely horrid decisions, the biggest being opting to help on some scrub TE instead of one of the best receivers in the NFL on that TD to Roddy. Turner's not really doing much aside from one long run, but man is Matt Ryan picking us apart...

Our offensive playcalling has left a lot to be desired, which is becoming a troubling trend with our so-called "offensive genius" Sean Payton. This game is still close enough to commit to the run, but I'm not holding my breath.

Saints commit to the run? What?

It's amazing that the Saints are averaging 9 yds every first down, and we've still kept them to 6 points!!

I know, right? You have no idea how frustrating it is to see Deuce pick up 6 or 7 on first down and then immediately get taken out of the game. I'm sure I'll be eating crow soon enough, brother.

why does our coaching staff try to burn the clock midway through the third quarter? it pisses me of because like it or not, turner isn't that great where he can effortlessly pick up first downs. we need to stick with a balanced offense until midway through the fourth like every other nfl team does.

i've noticed that new coaches like jim mora and sean payton have relative success their first couple years and it might be because other teams don't know their tendencies yet. but it's made evident a few years down the road once teams can prepare for them. i hope this is not true for coach mike smith.

Great pick for Houston. With Fox and Houston playing well, suddenly corner is not such a big deal...

Wow another great game for the falcons. First divisional win and staying perfect at the dome feels great, but the way our defense played is the icing on the cake pretty much.

End of the season.

But if he keeps playing like this, and has the starting gig, there's no reason not to resign him. Though it might cost us some dough at this rate...

yeah thats what i thought. he plays really deceptively. he grabs jerseys and subtly holds onto receivers but does it just enough to not get the call. i think the saints wanted to pick on him from the start but he played great and he should definitely be resigned if he keeps playing at this level.

Thoughts on the game. Had to watch it like 15 minutes behind the whole time so I couldnt be on here.

Offense:

QB- Matt Ryan played great. Threw the ball really well and just managed brilliantly. Made the correct checks and made several great "hot" throws under pressure. Two big plays I remember was when the Saints blitzed twice and on the first o play was a great pass to Peele for a 1st down and the second was the dump off to Norwood for a 67 yards TD pass. The other great thing I saw was his first pass to Roddy which was simply a great throw.

RB- Nothing flashy today but enough from Turner to keep us balanced and keep the clock rolling. Almost 100 for Turner w/ 96 but ill tale it. Overall got the job done.

WR- Great job. Roddy played like Roddy minus the one drop, but it didnt hurt us. Jenkins continues to impress and needs to be re-signed. Ryan obviously has a great connection with him. HD and Finneran didnt do anything and Peele had one good play. Overall our playmakers did great and caught the football.

OL
- Great job protecting Ryan today, but not so great in the run game. Most of Turners big runs came off tackle but again enough to get the win and control the clock. Weiner looked much better, but not the OL best game in terms of run blocking. Overall pass blocking was great, run blocking decent.

Defense:

DL- I thought they played excellent. Abe got his sack but has constant pressure. JA98 did great as well always causing pressure, we even had decent pressure from Moorehead up the middle (but this still needs to be upgraded). The one thing that made me the most upset was the fact we got to Brees so much and only recorded 1 sack, we should have had a lot more, but ill attribute that to Brees great awarness and ability to keep the play alive. Chauncy played well coming in, but Bierman is awful. He just is too small and cant get the job done. Overall, great job.

LB- Probably the worst part of the D today. Didnt see much of Lofton due to the Saints passing all game. Brooking needs to hang it up. He didnt do anything in the run game and he is uncapable of covering anyone on the filed. So many times he got lost in coverage and isnt fast enough anymore. He needs to do this team a favor and retire, free up some cap space and retire a Falcon. Overall, not great but we won, Boley played well.

DB- Wow, these guys were incredible. 3 picks, 1 pick six, just great. Have no idea how Brees threw for 422 yards but I guess its not that hard when you throw it almost 60 times. A lot of those yards are non-factor especially on that last drive and last play TD. Foxworth was a monster out there, great tackling, and made great plays on the ball. Same for Houston, rode the hip pocket all day and played great. Congrats to Chevis, h made a great break on the ball and made the most of it. Coleman again did his job, and didnt see much from Milloy, but that will be upgraded this offseason. Overall great job guys.

ST- HD did a great job fielding punts and making plays after the catch. Again Koenan didnt allow a single yard of return yardage and got 3 fair catches w/ several inside the 20. Great job. KO coverage was fine except for the 1 big return, I think that was due to the Saints return man being an idiot and got lucky, at least Koenan was there to force him out. Elam made his fields and overall we had another great ST game.

OMVP- Matt Ryan 16/23 248 yards 2 TD
DMVP- Foxworth 4 tackles, 3 passes defended
STMVP- Koenan, 0 ret. yards, 3 FC

Great game Falcons, lets keep this momentum and pound a hapless Denver defense.

Wow what a game. The birds look real slick on Full HD! Wish they'd of worn the black on black uniform though.

D-Rod i saw that too, there was one play in there where Anderson absolutely pumelled the guy on a bullrush, it was like he was pushing him down a hill. He is definately turning it on and seems to be in far better shape.

A few weeks ago i listed some things id like to see from our team down the stretch. Lets revisit

Emergence of a 2nd CB. HUGE TICK- you could tell this guy had it a few weeks ago and Foxworth really showed his skills tonight and was all over the feild. I dont think I have seen a CB for the Falcons play so consistant in a game before. People said it was only because it was the Raiders last week, clearly it wasn't, hopefully now we can start pushing back the CB need a bit.

Emergence of Laurent Robinson (#2 WR)- The main focus was a #2 WR and Robinson looked the most likely last year but the fact is i dont really care who it is. Right now its another TICK because Jenkins has flat out dominated the last few weeks and hasnt dropped a thing. Not sure i rate WR as a need now, i really think Jenkins White Douglas and even Robinson are all the WR weapons Ryan needs and can become very very good

Emergence of Jamaal Anderson - TICK- While clearly not on Abraham's level he really has exploded over the past few weeks causing heaps of pressure consistantly. Today he did one of the best bullrushes I've ever seen, and at 22, he clearly has alot of time to work on his body and wont peak for another 4 years.

Replace Adam Jennings - TICK - Douglas doing a really good job. He is very decisive and made a great return today

Give Norwood More touches - TICK - Again the coaching staff clearly knows what they are doing. Using his really well with outside runs and screen passes right now.

The falcons are on fire right now!

Not sure about F/A this offseason right now. I want ALOT of re-signing to be done

Eric Coleman is a guy who is really playing well for us at the FS spot this year and no one really notices. He had a INT and a FF today. In this years draft I'm really looking at SS as opposed to FS because i dont wanna move Coleman from the back. He has been doing a great job all year roaming at the back of the secondary

Ya but he is better as a SS. Its nice to be versitle though. Considering we play a lot of cover 2 it will be nice to have 2 safties that can cover the filed.

i really like our WR corps. i'm a big robinson fan and i think he has great potential but he just doesnt see the field enough. with roddy, douglass, jenkins, and robinson, finneran is expendable and we don't need him. we have four very young and formidable receivers that i wanna keep together for ryan.

I remember hearing him say that he loves our scheme because it allows him to do what he does best in an interview on the offseason. IMO he really looks like a deep FS which is fine.

As you say there is certainly no harm in having two safeties than can cover but IMO im looking to have Coleman as the leader of our 2ndary at FS (playing in a role he knows and excels at) and a rookie SS who is physical and can play the run but also has the added advantage of being able to cover which would be an upgrade over Milloys rather one dimensional style.

William Moore at a pick in the 20's looks great right now as a SS with cover skills

Couldnt agree w/ you more, b/c Willy Mo IMO is better suited as a SS in the NFL where as Taylor Mays is a FS. After today, its looking like we will be able to draft whom ever falls to us, wheter that is Moore or someone else. Im excited for the draft, it always helps when you see those question mark positions looking well as the season goes on.

After today, I think the main thing to be adressed is an OLB (I love Nicholas, but if Curry falls Id take him). Playmakin safety for sure. A stud DT (none this year). Depth at DE, especially another pass rusher just like Abe. (orakpo will be gone, hardy too).
OL depth, whether it is Center, T, or gaurd. Gotta build depth as this season has shown.
