Julius is actually playing decent in Seattle. Spears, meh, he's a 4-3 NT, not a 3-4 DE.

Long was a good pick up imo. Even if Matt Ryan has a HoF career and Jake Long turns out to be an average LT in this league, it's still and always will be the safer bet. When trying to rebuild a franchise, especially when you already have a great RB in Ronnie Brown, you should always take the more conservative and less risky picks.

Jake long had off the charts measurables and a great collegiate career. Matt Ryan had so-so measurables and a so-so collegiate career (till his final season anyways).

Now in saying this, I've always been a fan of Matt Ryan and I think he will end up being the "better" pick out of the two. But I don't think Parcells should say "doh" over going with the safe pick and building his team correctly (or I should say, correctly in my opinion).

Besides, Miami now has time to teach an array of QB's behind Chad Pennington if they choose to do that which may end up giving Miami a chance to have an extremely well groomed QB for the system they want to run down there.

I agree, Tuna made the right move. Its not the move I would've made, but then again I don't think Ryan would be doing so well behind the miami line without Jake Long

Huh? The Dolphins O-line in my opinion is much better than the Falcons' O-line even without Jake Long, Vernon Carey is a great RT and a good LT, Smiley is a very good guard, and Satele is quietly becoming one of the better centers in the league. Matt Ryan would not have the offensive weapon of Roddy White, but who knows maybe Ted Ginn would be great with Ryan, and Ronnie Brown is a better running back than Turner IMO so, Ryan... I think would have been better in Miami...

Our offensive line doesn't look good on paper, but it has played great. 7 sacks allowed in 6 games. Only Tampa got constant pressure on Matt Ryan. Run blocking has been great despite seeing eight in the box, except against Chicago where there were no running lanes.

They have definitely played well as of late, but I would still take the young and potential filled Dolphins line over the Falcons' one either way.

That's a good question, I still think he likes Henne quite a bit, they would of needed to trade up for a LT and I don't think they were ready to do that.

Actually. I was wrong about Matt Ryan too. Sort of.

I wanted Glenn Dorsey over Matt Ryan on draft day. I got a call from a friend after we picked Ryan and he asked me my opinion on it. I told him I would have rather had the guy who seems like the next Warren Sapp for our lacking defense. I have always been a defensive lineman guy and Dorsey seemed so dominant. In regards to the Ryan pick though, I didn't mind. I knew with Ryan he gave us that shot at a priceless franchise QB, and thats what I would put my hope in. After draft day though, I read multiple articles on Ryan that completely sold me on him. He has 'it.'

Now the question, who does he compare more to? Manning or Brady?

Well, not even the almighty Manning put up stats as impressive as Ryan's in his rookie campaign.

I've always been a big fan and there was no one I enjoyed watching more in college last year than him. I'm glad he's doing well and I certainly never had any doubts about his abilities. Falcons fans continue to embrace him. :)

Good little discussion to have over which team is in the better situation.
Very interesting conversation. The answer would have to be Atlanta - at least right now. Cleveland gave up picks to move up for Quinn and had no first round picks this year because of that move. I can't remember exactly how Atlanta got up to get Baker, but I know it didn't involve next years 1st rounder. So give them the edge since they will still have a round one talent the year after drafting their T/QB combo.

We had 3 2nd round picks. And more picks later.

I really want to see Brady Quinn play. He has everything set around him.

Highly unlikely. Jake Long is awesomeness redefined. He also got a QB who could sit a year or two instead of being fed to the lions.

As much as I campaigned against Ryan pre-draft, I'd take him at any stage of his career over Chad Henne, regardless of how long he sits to get up to speed.

Before the trip Dimitroff thought Dorsey, the LSU pass rusher, was the best player in the draft. But Ryan's workout in Chestnut Hill, Mass., and a three-hour dinner-interrogation started to change that thinking. At the restaurant Dimitroff tested the quarterback's loyalty to his teammates when he noted that Ryan's receivers had dropped some 50 passes last season. He asked if Ryan thought he'd have been a better passer with more talented wideouts. Ryan told the Falcons' group he'd take those guys any day of the week. "Perfect," Mularkey said later. "He could have killed them, but he was a great teammate."

Then in a 50-minute session using the whiteboard in the BC football meeting room, the coaches briefed Ryan on the offense Atlanta will run next season, explaining tendencies and playcalls. Musgrave drew a formation with motion, then gave the marker to Ryan. Mularkey would call out a play, and Ryan would have to show the route tree for his receivers and the progression of his reads. Ryan did so well -- better by far than the other five quarterbacks, Mularkey said later -- that the coordinator began throwing out more plays. For the final one, Mularkey described an option route with four receivers and quarterback movement, a play that sounded to Ryan like one BC ran called 335 Naked. Ryan rattled off the assignments of the four receivers and his progression -- how he'd look to the tight end first, slot receiver second and wideouts third and fourth.

"It wasn't just that he got it right," said Mularkey. "It's that he got it right fast, which is so important in this game. You've got to process information. We limit the terminology in our offense. We want it to be quick and up-tempo, and for the quarterback, intelligence is vital."

Thats the article that won me over as a Matt Ryan fan.

I'm already a huge Ryan fan but man that's just awesome to read about now. Especially knowing how many doubters there were around this time last season. Mike Mayock oughta get more credit for listing him as his #1 prospect heading into the draft all season.

Yeah Mayock was a beast during the 08 draft. He predicted like every pick in the first round, along with having Ryan at #1.

Watch this whole Vick fiasco be a blessing in disguise.
