I think we match up pretty well with TCU. Our pass defense is our strength, especially if our pass rush is clicking. Very excited for the matchup, best possible draw for us given the options I think.

I think you will destroy TCU. You will slow down their O a bit and score at will on them.

They are opportunistic on defense though, Bo likes to give defenses opportunities from time to time. We have done pretty well at containing true dual threat QB's over the last few years, Nick Marshall played well against us but we did a relatively good job against Dak, Blake Sims, and Manziel last year. Boykin is a beast, hopefully we can keep him in check. I feel pretty good about our chances.

Judging on the minimal I've read from Tennessee fans online so far today, it sounds like our game is going to be a battle of ineptitude. Whereas at least they have a legitimate excuse with playing young players, Iowa is just a complete lost cause.

May the most mediocre team prevail!

I kind of figured we'd end up seeing Marshall against Northern Illinois all year, so long as Marshall ended up losing a game. Huskies had a pretty typical year, their signature win being over a bad B1G team (Northwestern) while also being clearly the best MAC team but not a great team in general. I don't really know where this one goes, Marshall can move the ball on them but I think it's kept close either way. Should be fun.

Toledo is my pick for most likely MAC team to win a bowl, so they'll probably lose by 30 or so. Tied for MAC West title with N. Illinois, who was their only loss outside of a power conference. Again, kind of a typical year.

Western Michigan has been my favorite team to follow this year, from 1-11 to 8-4, young talent all over. I don't expect them to beat Air Force, but some of those guys could showcase.

This year's Central Michigan team is the very definition of Dan Enos mediocrity. But they somehow beat Northern Illinois comfortably and are my anti-Toledo, who I feel should lose for many reasons but will end up being the only MAC team to win. Which is fine because I love Titus Davis.

Bowling Green sucks. The MAC East is like the SEC East but not relevant enough to make fun of. They play a 6-6 Sun Belt team in what has to be the worst bowl game out there. Do not watch it. They still lose by 30, because **** Bowling Green and their lost season.

This caught me by surprise. Where did it go wrong with negotiations?

Adidas offered $3m more over the life of the contract, Nike chose not to match. Under Armour was reportedly just under the Adidas offer. Considering the rebranding Nike just did it is shocking they just let it go for a few hundred thousand dollars a year. I cringe at the crap Adidas will create.

Miami is no longer a big national brand. They can't even get fans in the seats let alone sell millions in merchandise a year.

That can change quickly, but Nike isn't stupid to pass on it.

Nike's contract with everyone is significantly lower anyone that has Adidas. They just gave Arizona State over 4 mil a year when they were getting 2 from Nike.

This will become a hard transition to cope with. I actually felt a certain type of way after Adidas locked Michigan up a few years back. It's just odd. Very odd.

Adidas has been spending a lot of money recently on college athletics.

If Miami does end up with Adidas, well lets just say I don't have much confidence in Adidas designing jerseys. Nike has done a great job with Miami uniforms over the years.

Exactly! I was actually banking on a Cane release from Nike...(Link below)

I take back my statement about Miami fanbase size. They were 14th nationally as of 2011. I was wrong. That's what happens when I assume.

This ranking is an inexact measurement, and it's 3 years old so things wax and wane, but one thing that really surprised me is that FSU is 38th.

Another shocking thing to me is that the Pac12 has a pretty small fanbase overall. Their top 3 schools (USC, UCLA, and Cal) add up to OSU's fanbase size. And the whole conference adds up to less fans than OSU, UM, and PSU combined.

Not shocking at all to me. College football (and college sports in general) is definitely less popular on the West Coast when compared to most other parts of the country, particularly those areas with major college programs. Plus many of the major markets are split between 2 college teams, the fact that there are a lot of pro teams out here, as well as the popularity of other sports (basketball in particular). I know quite a few people who either aren't huge football fans, don't avidly follow college sports, or both.

There are more reasons as to why, but basically this stat is unsurprising

Yeah, I guess as a guy who grew up in Ohio and lives in Texas, football is sport #1, #2, and #3 (NFL, College, and High School).

So it kind of baffles me that it's just not as popular in other areas. It's my cognitive bias. The pro sports argument doesn't hold water with me, there are pro sports all over Texas and Ohio.

I think it's more a basketball + baseball vs football combined with a lack of caring about college sports (due to the reasons you mentioned, particularly diversification of fan bases in a region).

Another reason may be that the West is full of recent migrants. People from the midwest and east coast that don't care about the regions colleges. And obviously a lot of immigrants from south of the border that don't care about football.
