Gregg Mattison, the DC of the Baltimore Ravens this year, has taken the same job with Michigan.

Jim Herrmann should thank Greg Mattison for assembling that National Championship defense at Michigan.

A little late, but I saw Lock Haven's football coach John Klacik has been named Miami OH's OC/OL coach. I go to Lock Haven and let me say this about Klacik
1.He does absolutely nothing
2.He is hated by his players
3.Our team has not won a game in over 3 years with him in charge.

Auburn hired Mike Pelton for their DL coach. very typical jay jacobs/gene chizik move.
was all-sec at auburn in 94
ties with chizik at ISU back when chizik was HC.
coached at troy when umenyiora and ware were there.

Hurtt is beyond awful as a coach but is a good recruiter. Probably a good thing you didn't get him.

Somebody is gonna pick up Tim Beck, the offensive coordinator at Nebraska. His resume as a coach stands out, there is massive improvement and records set everywhere he goes. I'd bet any amount of money he gets offered a HC gig after this season and turns around a smaller program.
He's going to be a very hot coaching candidate as the season wears on.

It's pretty obvious that college football is all about money and little else. Hence Notre Dame isn't joining any conference since they have their own TV deal which pays them more money than any conference can offer.
The Big East will simply raid the remaining Div 1 smaller conferences and take the SMU's, Boise St. San Diego St. etc. etc. as they did when they lost Miami, Boston College and Virginia Tech. The conference will not lose it's automatic BCS Bowl inclusion because it solves many of the BCS's critics about smaller Div 1 schools not getting a shot at BCS entry.
The irony is that Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A@M, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse may never see a National Championship game for years playing in far tougher conferences. The easy days are over for them but they will all make a lot more money.
Just maybe it will be good for football fans because major schools will now be forced to play tougher schedules, of course, the players will get more injuries playing against tough opponents but what do the fans and schools really care about them anyways.

Rumore that Todd Graham is going to leave Pitt to take the UNC job. We'll see how true this is.
