ASU Vice President of Athletics Lisa Love is in New York City for the National Football Foundation's 54th Annual Awards Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria. While there, Love reportedly will meet with Southern Miss coach Larry Fedora, Baylor's Art Briles and Houston's Kevin Sumlin.
One thing that's odd about this: When ASU met with SMU coach June Jones last weekend in Dallas, Love was there, but so too were Chief Operating Officer Steve Patterson and ASU President Michael Crow.
Just makes me wonder how serious these talks will be.
In related news: Southern Miss would not confirm that ASU has asked permission to speak with Fedora. Nor would Baylor confirm ASU has asked for permission to speak with Briles

In addition to Sumlin, Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Todd Monken and Steelers running back coach Kirby Wilson are also in play at Illinois
Also, Fedora is the next head coach at UNC

I heard about Monken...I was watching Year of the QB the other day on ESPN and the guy is a great football mind, very passionate. I would think he would be getting some better looks to be completely honest.

He definitely was a big part of the problem this year.
Especially since the offense had a decided schematic advantage.

I personally think that would be a much better hire than Sumlin but that might just be me.
Obviously Sumlin has head coaching experience but Smart knows the ways of the SEC, and you know he will have a stingy defense. If he can recruit Texas he will be pretty damn good.

Strong rumors that Malzahn will be the next head guy at Kansas.
Also, Mark Helfrich is getting some strong interest from Arizona State.

Looking like June Jones will be going to the Valley of the Sun (Arizona State)
Per Arizona State rivals: Source: On Tuesday, SMU coach June Jones pulled his staff off the recruiting trail and asked them to assemble for meeting today at 10 a.m.

That puts a damper on the Big East expansion somewhat but June Jones did do a good job turning that SMU program around. Can't wait to see what he does with Osweiler.

Who knows how he will do in 1 year with Jones. The Run n' Shoot is a pretty complicated offense.

True, he would be the most physically gifted QB June Jones has ever got to work with though so the potential is pretty exciting to think about.

I know. Pac-12 is going to be like watching a real life Madden game and the conference still has Steve Sarkisian, Chip Kelly, Lane Kiffin, and Kyle Whittingham

Isn't Whittingham a defensive guy? I thought he was the DC for Meyer at Utah

Yeah, he is. Now that I think about it, he's the only Pac-12 coach with a background in defense
