Vox Populi's Fifth '09 Mock Draft
Vox Populi's Fifth '09 Mock Draft
I don't do trades, the order is completely made up and based off of the current standings for this week, don't really care about the order though, it doesn't matter until after the season. I probably messed up somewhere, if so just point it out and I'll edit it. I've done one of these every-every other week so far for few weeks and feel like I'm getting better, its only my fifth one this year. I don't do commentary until my final mock draft of the year. Any input and insight is welcomed and appreciated. Let me know what you think is a bad or great pick so I can take it into account in future mock drafts.

wow i am pretty floored by the idea of the skins passing on monroe. i can't imagine that would happen under hardly any circumstances.

I was under the impression that Samuels was still playing at an elite level. I guess hes in his thirties now, but I'm sure hes still got at least a few more years left.

I can't see Monroe getting past the 49ers. How low do you have him on your rankings?

A lot lower than everyone else here apparently. I've got him as my 6th overall tackle assuming Andre Smith, Ebon Britten and Ciron Black come out like I have them doing here. I think a lot more tackle prospects will start coming out now after how many were taken last year, and these guys have a lot more talent than last year's bunch. I just think Monroe has been pretty bad this year and don't think he is a top ten pick anymore. He might be better as a tackle in college than Branden Albert, but I don't think he is close to as great of a prospect.

7 San Francisco 49ers Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech
2 months ago I would have wet myself if I saw this, 36 sacks latter, I'm not so excited. O-line is our biggest need. With the big 3 gone, give us Jason Smith.
13 New Orleans Saints Greg Hardy DE Ole Miss
Charles Grant, Will Smith and Bobby McCray all think this is a bad pick, and I agree. With Curry gone, we trade down and draft Moore (if available) Cushing or Mays.

wow....terrible Bears pick. I like how spraining his ankle sent Kyle Orton from having a pro bowl caliber season to needing replaced with a first rounder.
I thought force feeding us QBs in the first in mock drafts was finally silenced for this year at least.......
Michael Johnson there please.

I was actually thinking that Mack might be the best pick for us in the first. He would give our oline great depth be ready to push seubert in camp and let us slide him over once O'Hara's gone.

Not a fan of Wells, just don't like taking RBs that high unless they're all world. I think Seattle will win some games and probably be picking much lower but in this case i would go with Crabtree, Taylor Mays and even roll the dice on Mark Sanchez. Nice job.

Not really a good pick for the Colts. They already have Freeney, Mathis, Howard, and Brock at DE. They would go with either Sen'Derrick Marks or James Laurenitus.

Unless this mock is 6 months old it's horrible. Terrible Bears pick.

OT is a big need for the Packers but I would rather have Eugene Monroe or Ciron Black than Smith or even Duke Robinson, he would probably be the guy who could upgrade our OL immediately. Suppose its just personal preference and how you rank the OTs though.

Samuels is not playing at an elite level. He is playing at a serviceable level. Jansen and Heyer on the other hand are playing at a below average level at best. I'd be surprised if Jansen wasn't cut this offseason and like you said Samuels will be 32 soon. The reason I have been on a Mack/Duke Rob kick is because I don't think that one of the top OTs will fall to us. Should one be available then I'd think the Skins would jump on it.

13 New Orleans Saints Greg Hardy DE Ole Miss
the only place in defense where we dont need an upgrade at all imo. with curry on the board I'd like Monroe but I already read he's not high on your board. With keeping that point I'd still like william moore more or even vontae davis more (but please dont go picking him for the saints cause i dont want him but want him more thatn hardy)

Decent Chiefs pick. Would prefer a DE or MLB there to be honest, but it isn't bad.

Yeah, sure kill me for noting loving Neck Beard... I was trying to make things a little different this time around.
Yeah, I get that the Saints have a lot invested at end, probably should have gone elsewhere.

I like the Jets pick, safety isn't the biggest need but it is a need, and I happen to really like Moore
