Bo Jackson qualified for the olympics in the 60m dash when he was in college too. All this at 6'1" 220lbs. Had he not hurt his hip, I bet he would have destroyed records.

"Bo Jackson has the best verifiable time at a combine with his 4.12-second clocking at the Louisiana Superdome in 1986."
-USA Today

Another one that I dont know if it was mentioned was former Bengal QB Greg Cook. When Bill Walsh was the OC for Paul Brown when the Bengals became a new franchise, Greg Cook was on the roster and Walsh in an interview with NFL Films said he was one of the best QBs he ever coached. What happened with Greg Cook is that he tore his rotator cuff but back there they didnt have MRI machines and it was undiagnosed. Because of this the damage was too much and he was unable to play again.

"Had it not been for his injury, Cook may very well have gone on to be the greatest quarterback of all time."
-Bill Walsh

He actually didn't need to take a year to get healthy. He played very well and had 8 INTs (career high) in his first year with us. Though this year has been probably the best of his career.

He'd been well on his way to Canton, just needing the formality of a few more seasons at CB, then making a move to FS ala Rod Woodson
Or perhaps SS, which he started at last week.

Well the title is asking who would have been the best, but if you're just mentioning someone who'd be very good then yes. Javon Walker was becoming a top WR just hitting his prime before he destroyed his ACL. 12 TDs and almost 1400 yards in his first year as a starter.

Erin Swann and Andre Wadsworth

Swann was a Pro-Bowl player anyway, but had he not been knee injury prone he could have gone down as a great one. At one time the Cardinals had Swann, Rice and Wadsworth on their D-Line.

Wadsworth had some of the best rush moves coming out and his speed and explosion were off the charts. He and Rice could have gone down one of the best duo's ever, especially with Swann taking doubles every snap in the middle.

I can honestly say after watching some Old Terrell Davis Highlights, he was a MACHINE! in his 2000 yard season, there were multiple games where he sat multiple quarters after playing a half just becasue the broncos were beating teams so bad....

If injuries would not have got to him, there is no reason to think he couldnt have rushed for another near 2000 yard type season

3062 yards, 12 tds, 6 ints. 93.7 rating. Would he have been the best? Absolutely not, but Pennington is a good QB when healthy.

Does retiring to become an actor count because then I would have to say Jim Brown. But he is already considered "The Best" so maybe it would have just insured that title even more.

Bengals that come to mind are David Pollack and Greg Cooke. Cooke prolly woulda been a HOF QB if he hadn't been injured.

KiJana Carter and Odell Thurman also deserve mention though Odell was more off the field stuff.
