On 3rd down and 8-10 yards, Ryan has a 66% with a 10.27 YPA.
On 3rd down and 11+ yards, Ryan has a 60% with a 11.67 YPA.

Ben Roethlisberger:
3rd 8-10 yards, 65%, 8.68 YPA
3rd 11+ yards, 54%, 8.04 YPA

Peyton Manning:
3rd 8-10 yards, 71%, 9.08 YPA
3rd 11+ yards, 57%, 6.93 YPA

Drew Brees:

So yeah. He is basically one of, if not, the best 3rd and long QB in the NFL. I haven't checked other top QBs, but that is some great company...as a rookie.

Its ironic you bring this up because I am rewatching the Chicago game. Man, he is so money this game. Complete control of everything. This and the Saints game, he was just dominant. If he can just have performances like those again and again, then we are so set. I will stand by my prediction of calling him NFL's MVP next year. Check out some stats and comparisons that were made with Ryan.

Peyton Manning's 2nd NFL season:
4100 yards, 62%, 26 TD, 15 INTs.

Ben Roethlisberger's 2nd NFL season:
2400 yards (lol), 63%, 17 TDs, 9 INTs.

Dan Marino's 2nd NFL season (I cant believe he did this in his 2nd year):
5000 yards, 64%, 48 TDs, 17 INTs.

Matt Ryan's rookie season was arguably better than at least 2 (3?!) of those guys. I really don't think he hits a sophomore slump. It would suck if he did.

yeh i saw that. in my eyes he is no way near as good as ryan. those stats you found proved my point. ryan on third down is GOD.

Yeah. I found myself almost happy and self assured on third and longs throughout the season. How odd is that?

The fact is, whatever we do in FA and the draft, we should at least be competitive for the foreseeable future, all thanks to having a quality QB. For that, we should be thankful.

And that's why it is so freaking nuts for Denver to have messed around with Cutler...

Speaking of Matt Ryan, not to sound like a creeper or anything, but has anyone heard of any news about or from him? I know during the Hawks' offseason this summer, many websites and newspapers reported that Al Horford went back to Florida University to attend some summer courses to work up for his next level of degree in college. I thought it was pretty honorable of him. I'm not saying Ryan should have done this, I'm just wondering if there are any interesting topics out there about our star studded quarterback.

He went back to BC and boned every chick there that doubted his skills. Came back and sudenlly he is 250 pounds of pure muscle. Can now throw the ball 100+ yards.

On a little bit serious note, it's generaly a good thing that your player (especially franchise QB) doesn't make any news during the off-season. It's usually something bad, and we all know what happened with the last guy (vick duh). Just saying though, I know we won't be seeing anything like that with Matty Ice.
