PFT reports we have shown interest in Ingram TE from Florida. It makes me wonder if we just used the TE to block so Flacco didn't feel pressure being inexperienced and we want to use another weapon in the passing game as he gains more experience. Personally if we are looking at a recieving TE Cook from South Carolina is my favorite. He is tall and has a crazy vertical jump 41 inches. Plus runs a 4.5 forty. That is WR measurables in a 245 pound body. Plus he has natural hands. I would love him.

My favorite TE prospect (after Pettigrew of course):
Shawn Nelson
Wouldn't mind Cook though, but Nelson is going to be a stud.

I agree, he seems like a more complete TE than Cook.

Shawn Nelson is my #2 as well. Just a productive pass catcher with good athleticism. He's kind of like L.J. Smith.

I love both Nelson and Cook, but they don't offer much in the blocking department.

true but Quinn can do that. My personal theory w/ no real evidence to back it up is that Cameron wanted the TE to block a ton to give Flacco a extra blocker. Now Flacco is gaining more experience he wants the TE to be a big part of the offense in recieving. Both Nelson and Cook will be great recieving options, I like cook because his measurables make me drool.
But we have Heap,Quinn,Smith on the roster would we really carry 4 TE?

Hm, I can understand that. It make sense. And I do agree that it is unlikely we carry 4, so it might come as a suprise, but we might not even draft a TE at all. Who knows Ozzie. WE are taking the straight up BPA, and thats all that is garunteed about our draft.

LJ is on a 1 year deal, and I may be mistaken (and too lazy to look it up right now) but isn't this the last year of Quinn's deal?

I think we re-signed Quinn for a 1 year tender. He was a RFA.

he hasn't signed the tender yet, only Sam Koch has, but he soon will. So we will have 3 guys next year. TE is likely, but I won't be suprised if we don't take one till next year.

I read in an article that TE was the one need Ozzie wanted to address but didn't last year, he was targeting someone in the (I think) second round but things didn't fall out right and we missed the opportunity to select them. So this is why I think TE could be a position we target in the draft.

this brings up a possibility that we go WR 1st and TE 2nd. What would everyone feel about that. I know one person who would be happy is Flacco and Billick would probably slap himself and say "wtf why didnt they do that for me" lol.

I wouldn't mind taking WR then TE we need the offensive firepower to go to war next season. We all know Ray Ray will be happy now that he has his DLine healthy and a revamped secondary so he can run around and make plays so he can then watch the offense take the field and score TD's at will !!!
I just wish we would pick up another vet at WR..

Tennessee and Jacksonville I heard were interested. I don't remember us inviting him to the facility. I wish we did though, he's got some gas left in the tank for sure.

I wouldn't mind it depending upon the players taken, Im not really too high on any of the TEs in this class. I think our draft plan should be Rd 1=wr, rd 2= LB/DL/CB/RT.

At most what do you think we could get for Troy Smith. I would love us to package Troy and other fluff for a 2nd round pick. My dream scenario would be
1st-DHB
2nd-Clint Sintim
2nd-Loadholt/Cook/Nelson
wow what a draft that would be

I highly doubt we could get a 2nd for Troy, his limited playing time makes teams less likely to give up a 2nd for an unproven commodity. And I don't wanna give up Troy, he gives us from what Ive seen an extremely viable option should something happen to Flacco.

agreed, he'd be the ideal backup for us. He knows the system and all the guys on the team. Plus he's got added value as our "wildcard" player.

PFT says Jarius Byrd ran a 4.69. This is very upsetting.

ouch. He will be looked at as a slow FS now. Unless we get a private work out and Byrd gets his workout lower he is screwed.

Lol a 2nd for Troy. You'd be hard pressed to get a 4th rounder for Troy. Hell Matt Cassel only got a 2nd rounder and some teams think he's the 2nd coming of Tom Brady. Troy is a nice system backup who can do different things, but he's worth more to us than anyone else.

Plaxico Burress was just released a while ago. Any chance he ends up a Raven? I'd love to have a player with his kind of talent, just not him. Thoughts?

We won't even know until the summer if he's gonna have to serve jail time, and then will probably have a huge suspension from the league once he's cleared, no one touches him for a long time. Might as well go for Torry Holt or hell even Marvin Harrison before considering Burress.
