Barry Sanders Jr.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shu...urn=nfl,128540
Pretty impressive for a freshman, anyone got anything on Sanders Jr. I keep reading all the time about the sons of Will Smith, The Great One and Joe Montana, but nothing about Barry Sanders Jr. Anyone got anything?

He's a high school freshman. Why did you put this in the draft forum?

Not sure where else to put it, Didn't think college forum was appropriate. Prolly screw up by me. But I kept hearing all about WIll smiths kid about how good he could be, and he's a soph isn't he? Prolly should be moved though. My bad.

I love the quote from the guy who wrote the blog:
Quote:
|
DO NOT TOUCH HIM, DETROIT LIONS. Do you hear me? Your ineptitude has already cost us several years of quality Barry Sanders viewing, and if you mess with Barry Jr.'s career, it won't just be the people of Detroit who hate you, it'll be all of us.

who cares where the thread goes, bugs me how people are more concerned about that than the topic.
unfortuntely, i would like to see alot more clips of him playing. i really haven't heard much about him yet, probably because he is a freshman. pretty impressive for a freshman i suppose but every highschool runningback that is average has at least one good play like this. we will see how he stacks up in 2-3 years. should be very interesting. that move he put on as he turned up field looks very barry sanders sr. taught.

I assume with the more he plays in high school the more tape of him that will be available. Even if he was phenominal, many high school coaches don't like to start freshman regardless of talent, so he may not have many carries this year.

Kind of defeats the purpose of having sub-forums.

oh yeah i definitely agree that its probably because he is a freshman. thats why i think it will be interesting to see where he's at in 2-3 years. i never really understood the not playing young players in HS. if you have a phenom you play him. especially at a big time highschool. last time i checked herman edwards still thinks you play to win the game. college coaches jump at the opportunity to ride a CJ spiller or Demarco murray. Especially at colleges where recruiting is tougher. if you get one freshman that is good in there, he starts day one. why cant that be the case in highschool if he is outperforming other guys?

That what I was trying to find out, but your prolly right, if this is really the only tape, he probably wasn't getting too many touches.

Well I coached against him all through little league. My sons team and his team always battled for first place. He was a decent runner but nothing outstanding. As a matter of fact he wasn't a starter on his team but got a few carries during the game. As a freshman he only has 42 carries for the year. He has gotten bigger if his vitals are correct. I think they said he is 5'10 and 170 now. The school hes at is Heritage hall which is a small school here.

A few players have said he is the best player on the team.
I'm excited.
