He does get a lot of assists, for the most part though he's always at the point of attack though, but the Steeler's are so good on defense that so are 2 other guys. So really the only elevation in Harrison's game to me is the turnovers. To me though that's huge. As I've said before, when the offense needs the ball back, he always seems to get a turnover or a sack.

I made the same mistake above but FF doesn't necessarily translate into turnovers. Still, from what everyone is saying, I guess Harrison has made more impact plays.
We're looking at
15 sacks, 3 stops for a loss, 7 FF, 1 Int
19 sacks, 6 stops for a loss, 5 FF, 0 Int

Harrison also had a Safety. I don't know if Ware had any. And I know Woodley recovered 3 of his FF's, 1 resulting in a TD.

Yeah, Ware definitely does have a lesser supporting cast. It's just the way Harrison gets the ball turned over that puts him ahead of Ware for me. I just don't think his supporting cast are really assisting the way he jars the ball loose
|
Here's a question though, with a lesser supporting cast, isn't the converse also true?
If there's less great guys on his team that's effectively less guys to steal from his Numbers?

Harrison is a great player, but he has no realistic chance no matter what justifications you can come up with. Seriously. The media would give it to Polamalu before Harrison.

Yeah that is true, they might not all have been recovered. Still, he knocks the ball out like a mofo and gets his team a chance to recover it.

I don't know. True Troy is the face of the Defense, but Harrison has gotten a lot of publicity this year.

He won't win but certainly improved his chances to finish top 5. 2 INT's on the big stage against the Steelers, and 2 INT's on the national stage against Americas sweethearts the Cowboys and Golden boy Romo.

James Harrison, still and only.
Ed Reed is making a heck of a push down the stretch though.

Why is Aso not on this list? Andre Johnson had two catches for 19 yards today.

Because MVP rewards stats, for example Matt Ryan isn't even close to the top 5 QB's in MVP voting but would be closer to that in terms of value to his team.

Michael Griffin has DPOY like stats, at least he does if Reed and Troy do. 75tk, 1 sack, 7 int, 1 FF, 1 TD, 11 passes defended.
But it's got to go to a OLB surely. I voted Ware.

no one was saying ed reed and troy are DPOY because of stats its never just about stats its about what you mean to your team and when those big stats came. Ed reed has pick6's and at meaningful times not saying griffins stats werent at meaningful times but just clearing up that we werent talking about stats

i think you only need 2 names on here and they are demarcus ware and james harrison... no other defensive player has had a bigger impact and more dominant this season...
im even putting these guys over my boys ed reed and tsuggs...
