This was a no brainer since he was the only defensive player to get league MVP votes.
Now lets hope he can lead us to the promise land, which is Raymond James Stadium.

I have no problem with a player being a 'system player', but you could argue that's what Harrison is. Pittsburgh could turn my mom into a good LB. It's his job to flourish within the system, so more power to him, I just think it's interesting the way Pittsburgh can find and develop great LB's.

I Thought Ed Reed was gonna get it with his late season push to be honest.

That's where my vote would have been with all his 2 interception games on the playoff push.

Haynesworth had it in the bag until he got hurt.
Ed Reed had a great year. If the playoffs were included in the decision, he probably would've won.
I thought Polamalu had a great year too. Not sure what his stats were, but I know the impact he brings is immense.
Kinda happy that Ware didn't get it... with his contract extension on the horizon, this would've just added more zeros to the end of that contract.

Ware was more consistent all season, and statistically had a better season.
But the Steelers defense as a whole was better so Harrison wins...I don't get it.

Last night's performance wasn't a bad effort either...
Quick general MVP/POY question, if they take making the playoffs into account (and thus team performance) why don't they make these awards during the offseason?

I would have liked Ed Reed to get it. He was amazing at the end of the season and his playoff game might have tipped voters (even though it shouldn't). Oh well. We are watching a top 5 safety of all time play. Its pretty fun.
It was a great race this year though with Haynesworth, Ware, Harrison, Reed, and Polamalu.

I don't buy that Harrison was then if that's your argument, Ware was as consistent as any disrupting force on that side of the ball this year...But Ed Reed was still my vote.

Harrison deserved it completely. Harrison was all overs the place this year, he wasn't just piling up the sacks. 101 tackles, 16 sacks, 7 forced fumbles a pick and a safety. Not to mention the impact he had opened up a great year for Lamarr Woodley. Reed I thought had a great shot because of his late season push, and the cowboys late season collapsed doomed Demarcus Ware.

I don't want to get into the whole Polamalu debate again, so just take this for what its worth in this sense...
Harrison was the best player on the best defense in football and statistically, he wasn't that far behind Ware. I think he also is a more well rounded defender doing more than just rush the passer which helped his cause. Also, his team was more successful as well.
Makes perfect sense to me and Harrison is much deserving.

Wow. I honestly think that this is the first time where a Cowboy actually winning an award would have created less controversy than the actual winner....lol
