Breaking News: Tony Dungy has come out of retirement, but has now been traded to the Jets.
Srsly though I've always liked Dungy and am sad if the Bolts played any part in his leaving the game.

His part in the creation of the Tampa 2 defense should get him in my opinion. Whenever a person is instrumental in the changing of the game he should get in

Very good coach but I dont think he's HOF worthy. For being a defensive guy his defense, at least for the Colts, just wasn't good enough. He does seem like a good guy but there's just something annoying about people that nice

i don't want to turn this into something, but i'm really getting tired of reading people talk about what an awesome person he is.

Only coach ever to lead his team into the playoffs for 10 consecutive years.
First black SB winning coach (face it, that matters).
Invented the Tampa 2.
And still everyone likes him.
HOF lock, in my opinion.

actually, he has even said he took the cover 2 philosophy from the steelers of old.
monte kiffin optimized it to fit the talent on the roster.

Exactly. Dungy was basically running the same defense that his coach, Chuck Noll, ran with the 70s Steel Curtain Steelers.

Class guy & great coach. All the best in his retirement. Please become GM of the Skins in a year or two.

I'll stay out of the hof discussion because im uncertain. I will say that he is a class act and a great coach. I hope he enjoys his time off with his family and other pursuits. Id be willing to bet in about 3 years he is back in the nfl.

Dungy is a class act and a great coach. Making the post season 11-13 years is a great accomplishment. Winning that superbowl makes him a HoF contender.
But his post season record, 9-10, might hold him back.

In his Press Conference he said he wanted to do something working with young people. I don't think he will want to be a GM.
He is the first Black coach to win the SB. That will help him out a lot, being popular with the media makes a significant difference too.

The zone defense in general was created to stop Bob Hayes, and he got the big shaft from the HOF.

1st ballot HOF in my opinion.
I'm sad to see Dungy go, but he will do some awesome things in the community off the field.
I don't see Dungy coming back. He mentioned when he retired it was it. He wasn't going to come back.
He had a good run though.
Thanks for everything coach and enjoy your retirement...
