Crossing eras is indeed a difficult task. I think Carter's individual, regular season accomplishments FAR outweigh anything that Swann (and Stallworth) did in terms of Pro Bowl apps and 1st-Team All-Pros. Carter also consistently finished in the Top 10 in receptions and TDs for a decade.

But Stallworth and Swann had big games on the biggest stage and had enough individual accomplishments to even things out. They all deserve to be in...Carter just has to wait his turn. He will get there. When only six guys can get in at maximum, not everyone can be elected immediately even though they are deserving.

Besides, what is the rush anyway? Carter will get in and that's what matters.

If Meck had played for the Giants, he would of been first ballot. If Sharpe had played for the Jets, he would of been first ballot no question.

And it's also the same reason why players like Terrell Davis, Tom Nalen, and Rod Smith won't get into the hall, simply beacuse they played for Denver. Despite going to SIX superbowls, and winning two. The Broncos as a Franchise only have TWO inductees into the HOF. When you consider that Detriot has 13 entries, Arizona has 11 entries, really makes you wonder.
Why is Tony a slamdunk and Sharpe isn't? Perhaps because Tony passed up all of Sharpe's receiving records in less time than it took Sharpe and he still has some time left in his career to completely blow the receiving records for a TE out of the water.

Rod Smith does NOT deserve the HOF, and probably neither does Nalen. Denver's ability to put out 1,000+ yard rushers really puts a dent in the legacy of Davis. Yeah he did it better than anybody else in Denver but that simply makes him a little better than a bunch of average runningbacks. Let's see what he would have done on any other team. I doubt he comes anywhere close to his success.

I gotta agree with njx9 on this one, that was one of the lamest excuses I have ever seen for TD not being in the HoF.
Tell me, what RB for the Broncos since TD has rushed for 2,000 yards? Or for 6,000 yards in 4 seasons with 60 TD's? Portis was on pace for that in his 2 years, but no other RB has come close to TD's production and his career was cut short of injuries. He would've been a first ballot if he didn't have the injury concerns.
