Ravens terminate contract of CB Chris McAlister
Ravens terminate contract of CB Chris McAlister
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP)—The Baltimore Ravens released cornerback Chris McAlister, a 10-year veteran and three-time Pro Bowler on Monday.
The 31-year-old McAlister, who started for Baltimore’s Super Bowl winner in 2001, ranks third on the Ravens’ career list with 26 interceptions and scored seven touchdowns for Baltimore—including a 107-yard return of a missed field goal.
He started five games last season before being benched and was placed on injured reserve with an injury to his right knee on Nov. 11. McAlister finished the season with three interceptions and 19 tackles.
McAlister was due to make $8 million this year.
“We want to thank Chris for all he did for the Ravens in the past 10 years,” general manager Ozzie Newsome said. “He was a major contributor to many big wins, including the Super Bowl.”

I think he is a big enough name to get his own thread.

looks like we are clearing space to make a play for Ray. We also need to sign Jason Brown to. IDC about Scott. If we can get Ray,Brown,Suggs back next year I will be happy.

he wasn't that good. He was hurt for a good part. Some fan called up claiming it was common knowledge he was drunk against Indy. I have heard he had alcohol issues but I never knew he was drunk/hung over during a game.

Suggs is mine!
In all seriousness, what is Suggs situation with Bmore looking like?

I don't know how your cap is that being said I would think one of the three will be gone.

looks like we will franchise him. I doubt he will be happy about that.
And IDK why we didn't cut Rolle, that guy sucks and is about as fragile as a 80 year old man. Has to stand 25 yards back against a WR every play and I don't think he made a tackle in run support all year, I think all his tackles have came from him jumping on piles on diving at someones legs and getting lucky.

well we can franchise Suggs, IDK what the highest paid C in the NFL is but Brown will probably get around that, so we can use some of the 8 million we got from Cmac on him. Then hopefully we can make a play on Ray.

imo i think the ravens could go either way in the 1st round now that mccalister is gone..id go with the overall better prospect..which will most likely be either DHB or d.j. moore

Sucks to see him leave he did so much for our team. He was a beast last year except against the Colts. I also do not think we should cut Rolle because he is solid and he is a good 2nd guy but since he is our best CB now he will play #1. I guess that is better than having Washington in C-macs spot.

well some guy called up claiming it was common knowledge in Bmore that Cmac was drunk for that game. HE sure played like it. I have heard he has had alcohol issues, I hope he can get some help then come back to Bmore at a cheaper price. He said Bmore will always be his home and got pretty choked up in a interview w/ Anita Marks.

his injury history made this unavoidable, they have too many players to sign to keep him at that number.
On the off chance he doesn't find a new team right away I think they'd make him a new offer though.

I think any team would love to take him as a nickel guy at the very least. If he stays healthy, McAllister can still get it done.

I do not see why people are saying that he wouldn't be a number 1 when he is better than alot of CB out there. I think any team would be lucky to have him. Especially someone with young CB's. I hope we just re-sign him for less

wow, I'd hate em if they got him. I think Chris McAlister can really have a comeback year, if he can stay healthy. I guess it is possible that we can re-sign him, if he can agree and get on the same page with Harbaugh it'd be great. We need his kind of talent in our pitiful secondary. Only after we re-sign Suggs, Ray, and Brown.

Per ESPN ticker if the Ravens can't get a long term deal done with Suggs they will tag him.

I expect they should work something out, especially since he's willing to take a hometown discount. Then we can use the Franchise Tag on Jason Brown.
