Who's out there right now? Or do we give it to Fabini or Mcquistian? Draft?

As I said before. Big deal. He's had one healthy season. It would have been nice to keep him, but it's not like we're losing Gene Upshaw or Anthony Munoz.

Alright then.

LT Adams
LG Kosier
C Gurode
RG Justin Blalock
RT Davis

I really like Davis better inside. With the loss of Colombo we're in need of a tackle, or even a young player who could become a tackle if Flo breaks down. I don't think Davis is a LT.

The Steelers also made tender offers to restricted free agent offensive tackle Max Starks.

Starks received a $1.83 million offer for 2007, which means the Steelers get a first-round draft pick if they decline to match any offer he gets from another team

He is the best RT out in FA right now...a first is mighty hefty.

I really think we are going to put Davis at RT. I don't like that but it is what is gonna happen.

As far as the draft goes...Brown/Sears/Ugoh are probably the top candidates but won't be around in the second. Which is why I think a first for Starks isn't so unheard of.

If we wait until later...my personal favorite option is drafting James Marten. He had a excellent senior bowl..showed great fire. His footwork is decent...but not what you look for in a LT..so he will be stuck on the right side in the NFL...He has passion and fire...and good size...and a decent amount of upside. Should be able to land him in 3rd round.

We could go OG first round..but doesn't make a lot of sense. Blalock looks like the most logical pick at 22. Grubbs would probably be #2 option here...still both are reaches.

Round 2 looks promising for OG...Beekman...Grubbs...Blalock...Yanda but I really think 2 of those 4 are off the board...and Yanda scares me starting the first year.

So when it comes down to it...I'm really scared about how this situation is going to go. We need to get in the early 30's range to land our guy imo.

I don't see anything on various websites about Columbo's agreeing to terms with the Jets.

This report of Columbo agreeing to terms with the Jets is B.S.!

The N.Y. papers would have been all over this agreement. They have nothing this morning on Columbo becoming a Jet.

The only Cowboy player the Jets are close to signing is DE, Kenyon Coleman.

No mention of the Jets being in negotiations with Columbo.

The only news on the website I found is "Tim MacMahon, of the Dallas Morning News, reports the Dallas Cowboys are confident they will be able to re-sign free agent OL Marc Colombo (Cowboys)."

I believe we will get him back. I agree with LSU that even we lost him it is not big deal.

Please put Leonard Davis at RT. Strahan will get to pad his stats twice a year with him at Tackle. Hell, Davis isn't even a good Guard. He has to prove me wrong for me to believe it. Think about it, Arizona desperately needs oline, and Whistenhunt and Grimm are the best in the business with big olinemen, if he was salvageable don't you think they would try to keep him and move him inside?

I think signing him was a big mistake. His good days were when he was 330, he's a 360 pound balloon now. And he has a horrible work ethic. The reason why he didn't even want to give the Giants a shot (thank God) was because he knew his work ethic would clash with Coughlin. Basically, he's fat and lazy, and doesn't want to be forced to work. That shouldve been a red flag right away.

I think Blaylock might be a round 1 need now. He can play OG, and if Davis sucks at RT, he can move there.

BBD -

Reports are pretty widely accepted that the NYG were prepared to offer as much money as the Dallas Cowboys. So tell me, if teams are offering money like this, doesn't that mean they see GAME FILM that indicates the player can play?

No team signs a guy without researching him. I get so tired of people 'grading out' players when they really have no idea.

I'm not suggesting he's a great signing or that he's a terrible signing. The bottom line is that no one ON ANY NFL BOARD that is not on an NFL staff has as much information as someone on the staff has.

Please BBD, don't turn into one of those guys. For the most part you're one of the better posters on the board and I enjoy our conversations. I do not want you to turn into one of those 'I know more than NFL coaches know' guys.

Good call, I'll be more careful next time I voice my opinion without giving some extra thought to it.

Personally, Im just not a fan of Davis's. I was angry when I heard that the Giants were interested. Also, I know we know little compared to NFL players and coaches, but that doesn't mean theyre right all the time either. I remember alot of teams going after Lavar Arrington last year and that didn't work out well at all.

The problem I have with FA signings as a whole is, we look at old tape of them and think they can become that guy again with a change of scenery. Unfortunately, thats usually not the case. You are what you are, and players change over time. Davis shows me nothing as of late to lead me to believe that he can become the guy he used to be. He didnt even make a concentrated effort to lose weight.

I think its a good idea to bring him in, only if they still address oline sometime in the draft. They need an insurance policy just in case it doesn't work out. If they put all their eggs in this one basket, thats not a good move. If they get him, plus get an olinemen in the draft to spell him just in case and provide depth, then I like the idea. Thats why I like Blaylock in Dallas right now.

That was the mistake we made with Lavar. We thought that because we got him, that we didn't need to address LB. That was a mistake. Wilkinson wasn't exactly an insurance policy. He was a MIKE that we tried to convert to OLB so that takes time for the conversion. So we approached the situation with a flawed battle plan. Dallas shouldn't make the same mistake. Especially with the depth at OG this year.
