The one thing I can think of is that one or two couldnt reach the boat so the players went out to try and grab them but then got swept to sea as well.
|
I read somewhere, I think it was ESPN, that the guy who was rescued said that they were all in contact with the boat soon after it turned, so the most likely is that they got ripped away by a wave and couldn't get back. Combo of hypothermia, fatigue and vicious swell can make that sort of swim difficult even for good swimmers.

This is terrible. Especially with the boat being found and the other 3 guys missing, fingers crossed for them and I pray they are ok but I fear the worst.

CNN just reported they'll end the search today at sundown.
That's in about 1 hour.
Sad, Sad story that 3 men are floating around in the ocean and no one can help them.

All alone at night helpless in the middle of the ocean, scared to death. By far the worst way to go out.
I really feel bad for those guys and they're families.

Sharks are definitely possible...but with the reported size of the waves I'd say they could have just drowned, even with life jackets on.

I wasn't joking.
That was Shark infested water they were stranded in and the coast guards didn't find any of their bodies. A cut or a open wound could easily attract a shark in the gulf of Mexico.

Oh, me too.
I hate swimming in deep water.
It's scary as hell.

The US Coast Guard has ended the search. I think it's safe to say they're gone now. We might never know what exactly happened to those men. R.I.P

Wow, weird development. Apparently Nick has told reporters that Marquis Cooper, Corey Smith and Will Bleakley tried to swim to safety. Smith and Cooper took off their life jackets.
Quote:
|
"We were told that Nick said the two NFL players took their life jackets off and drifted out to sea," said Bob Bleakley, whose son Will, 25, is also still missing.
|
Quote:
Schuyler said that Will Bleakley, who stayed hanging on the capsized boat with Nick, told him he saw a light in the distance and decided to try and swim for it.
"I think he was delusional to think he could swim someplace," Will's father said.

I feel so bad for their families, what a tragic situation, I can only imagine being out in the middle of the ocean and no one close to help so your just there until someone comes...Hopefully there is still a chance but there is so much water out there it makes it tough, that's why I NEVER get on the water like that unless its a huge boat with lots of satellite attention or something easy to spot on the water.
