Forget Maybin. We've already got somebody very similar in Jarvis Moss.

DL, ILB, strong-side OLB, and secondary (due to the age). Maybe WR.

As I said in the other thread:

Drafting a QB this year is just dumb. The QB position in this draft is incredibly weak as both Sanchez and Freeman are overrated. In an average year there is no way Freeman is even mentioned as a first round pick.

Unfortunately this season is going to be very tough for the Broncos. QB is going to be an issue and so will the defense regardless of who they draft. And given their incredibly tough schedule I think there is only a 25% chance of them finishing at .500. I think they are looking at a top ten pick next year.

Give McDaniels a year to see what he can do with Orton and Simms. I doubt it will be much (3500 yards maybe??), but I think either QB will be serviceable for a year.

And given the QB crop for next years draft (Tebow, Bradford, McCoy among others) they should wait and draft a QB then (Chicago might not do that well either as they have some serious holes to fill with no draft picks).

Stay the plan and address the defense early and often. The lone offensive position I wouldn't be opposed to addressing in the first three rounds is WR given the issues with Marshall.

<+BOE> Scott, with Burfict's character concerns (whether legit or not) you think Pioli would draft him. :D
<+ScottWright> Why not. Baldwin does need a sparring partner...

... and Moss is basically a bust at this point unless he really comes on in TC.

Maybin will take a lot of development - he should've stayed in school another year. I don't think that's what the team is looking for in terms of the front seven.

It's gonna happen, just not in the first. Scheme-wise, someone like Harrell makes sense. However, I'm starting to think McGee from A&M might be on our radar. Decent arm, accurate, good intangibles. Gives McD something to work with while Orton holds down the fort.

Obviously, the team would like to use the 12 pick to go front 7 (Cushing? Jackson?), but a good case can be made for RB as well. I think the darkhorse in the situation is Jeremy Maclin - the value is good and he could be a terror in McD's spread attack as well as taking over the return duties.

LOL. Well, I think there's a real danger of Marshall getting his stupid ass banned from the league if he doesn't get his pimp hand under control. I think the team will take a WR in the draft, it's just a matter of when.

Do I want us to draft Maclin? No, we need defense... but we've got a lot of picks and I can see the team looking for value. All the effort into scouting RB's makes me think they're doing the same thing there, getting prepared for a possible slide into the second or third they can jump on.

Agreed...we don't need a project played for a project defense.

I wasn't clear as I was talking more about the first day.

With Marshall's situation I wouldn't be surprised to see us pick a WR in the first day. I wouldn't be totally against it either.

Feeding my suspicion that a RB is high on the wish list, Todd McShay reported that the Broncos are targeting the tailback position in the draft.

He pretty much guaranteed we wouldn't go defense with the first two picks. He speculated that it would be defense at 12, then RB at 18 (assuming someone the team likes is available there).

He also seemed to think we were a lock to take Sanchez if he fell to 12.

Does he actually have some inside information, or is he just pulling **** out of his ass? Time will tell.
