Many, including myself, are much more intrigued by next year's QB class. I think there may be as many as 5 QBs taken in the first next year, and many of them will be more polished than Sanchez. Also, the only elite QB that was available to the Niners at 10 was Freeman, and he wasn't worth the risk at 10.

Many fans believe that the Smith/Hill situation has to play out this season, so that they can determine the best plan of action moving forward, which could be to draft a QB to develop under Hill (or Smith). The reason why many of us dreamers are projecting a QB in the first next year is that neither Smith nor Hill have proven themselves elite, so it's a potential area of need in next year's offseason.

Bottom line, the Niners didn't need a 3 QB controversy (including two Top 10 picked QBs). It wouldn't help the team at all this year, and recognizing that allowed them to take a much needed playmaker instead.

I'm a believer too, Yay, but our schedule is looking BRUTAL. Every team we're playing had a pretty good draft, and some of the good teams from last year have gotten better. The only team that might not be as good IMO is Tennessee, and they were 13-3 last year! We'll HAVE to beat the crap out of the NFC West to make the playoffs happen. That's how the Cards made it last year (6-0 NFC West, 3-7 everyone else).

New season....new attitude....hopefully a new result!

I'm not sure how many of you have seen this pic yet, but it makes me smile every time. Its fun to "insert your own caption" of what is going through there minds as well as the one of DHBs and his reaction.

Classic.

Over at the Raiders forum they have a thread that has the above pic as well as the video clip of DHBs reaction. Here is what I wrote:

"With the Crabtree and the guy next to him pic - I like to imagine that they did something they shouldnt have done and were pretty damn sure they were going to get caught, but then they some how got away with it and were like "**** man, that was close! how did we dodge that bullet?"

Then with the DHB video - he looked like a man who just recieved word he would be spending the next 5 years in prison.

I also like to think that DHB thought to himself at that moment "damn, why did I have to run so fast?""

Yeah I'm a little sad Morgan doesn't start if Crabtree does. But you do have to respect that the Niners' are really committed to the best player available philosophy.

McCloughan really impressed me this draft. He looks to the future, even if his job is apparently on the line.

Mike Sando thinks we might have interest in new FA Leroy Hill:
http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/features/rumors
Quote:
Finally, in spite of recently extending Parys Haralson through 2013, the Seahawks' NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers could sniff around Hill in the coming days. The team has a force at inside linebacker in 24 year-old Patrick Willis, and a Willis-Hill tandem would give the Niners a great core to build around.

I don't want to predict individual games but I will just say I am expecting 8-8 to 9-7 or better.

8-8 to 10-6 has been the consensus. If we do that, I'll be happy.

IF Marvel stays healthy our o-line should be in good shape. I am really excited to see who becomes or starting QB and FS.

Alright, I was waiting for us to sign Marquis Harris from the Chargers. He backed up Merriman last season. Wasn't great, but he is experienced in the 3-4.

Maiocco is reporting that we are close to signing him. He is kinda small though...
